Opinions on the new iDrive and Drive Mode buttons?
I recently had a chance to drive a new 330i as part of a BMW drive event and noticed that the physical IDrive & Drive Mode button near the gear shift selector appear to be 'touch' style as opposed to the F30's rocker switches. I didn't get a chance to try them out due time restrictions, but wondering what people think of this approach. I'm worried that they may wear poorly over time. I know, getting into the minutia at this point, but my lease is up in a few months and very interested in a '20 M340i and trying to learn about all aspects of the G20!

There are many reports of buttons 'splitting' on E90s and F30s over the years. Not to mention the soft-feel rubberized plastic on the door handles that turns to mush in some cases. The latter is often due to the way they were cleaned (harsh chemicals, etc), but oils from the skin can also wreak havoc.
