First digit is the month. BMW seems to have a month cadence. So, 3, 7, 11, 3.... then the year. Last number is just a sequence number to indicate small fixes within the current version.

Just updated the BMW 330i built 05/2019 from 03/2019.60 to 07/2019.39.
Pros: Much better map presentation on digital cluster Cons: No Driver's Assist View When connecting via ACP a message appears on iDrive Maps that an destination on CP is active and so no maps are showing on the infotainment screen, although I don't have active navigation from other ACP apps. The solution so far is to disengage and reengage the ACP and then it works. Gesture control is worse than before Coloured apps that I don't like. The black and white were more beautiful |

So theoretically, once BMW get OTA up and running, everyone should be on the same version number, ie 07/2019.60 |

Those of you with software version 07/2019.39
Has the upgraded software:
I posted elsewhere from an article that the reason that BMW charges for CarPlay is to offset development/support costs from the wireless implementation. Meanwhile, have we seen a software update that didn't require a dealer visit? I can only hope that BMW can via a software update allow for wired CarPlay, so it can work as well as it did in the Chevy I rented a few weeks ago...

Just got mines updated to 07.2019.39 today. Some changes I noticed, but haven't gotten to play with it to write in detail about just yet.
One thing I noticed right off the bat, the seat belts don't 'tighten' you in when you get in gear and start driving no more. Might be a part of the new update, can anyone else confirm? |

Actually, I contacted my dealer in Munich today. Below is his reply
"that’s correct, the remote software upgrade feature is currently in a state where the updates are targeted to a selected number of cars. So it might be possible that your car will receive an update via that functionality now. Later on, all cars will do their update remotely while being parked, and activated by their owners. When a car does a remote software upgrade, it will have to stand still for at least half an hour, so it will be best to do it overnight like with your smartphone. To get your software update manually as soon as possible, you’ll have to make an appointment." So, I called up my dealer and made an appointment for next week. |

Was in yesterday to have everything updated since I'm having some issues with CarPlay, connected music and missing mail/calendar/Spotify.
Guess what, didn't receive the update because this update doesn't state that it will solve my problems.

I'm interested in hearing about if it fixes CarPlay issues, though. |

"Off course" not. If you go to the dealer with all kinds or strange unseen issues that could have their source in software they always want you to be at the latest version. Most often if the problem disappears it has nothing to do with the actual software version being installed. It's a matter of a full system reset, clearing buffers and turning it off and on again.
However if there's a specific problem they are familiar with but a software release note doesn't mention fixing it, upgrading isn't going to fix it. All kind of members have had upgrades and seen hardly any or no improvements at all with regards to carplay or connectivity stability. And why would they? The software update wasn't designed to do so. From a dealer perspective, if the problem is known but the solution isn't, upgrading the software is just throwing money away. If the problem is vague, seemily unique and thus and unseen before, upgrading might fix the issue and is cheaper than going hardware research and replacing parts thus worth giving it a chance..

On the other hand, apparently nobody has received major version upgrades OTA, so I guess the situation isn't any better than before for now. |

"Lane Assist" no longer active after upgrade to 7/2019.39. Function is checked and the little car symbol shows all driver assistance systems are active but it does not work, i.e. no green lane symbol in cluster and no steering wheel vibration and or intervention.
Anybody with the same issue?

Anyone know if the driving assist view shows stop signs and/or traffic light and whether it shows red light warning (beep when you're about to run a red light)

This is a weird response from the dealer for me. I work at a company that makes both hardware and software that work together. We do a lot of phone support for our products. We ALWAYS make sure the customer has the latest and greatest version of software, because every new version, whether it is a major revision or not, contains bug fixes. The only reason we would not make the customer download the newest version of software is if we KNOW that it will cause a problem.
