- Only some of my custom coding got reverted (Comfort Plus etc.) some of my coding actually stuck around so I guess these new updates are only patching certain things and not others.

- I'll have to test more but it seems like auto-start stop got a bit smoother, could just be my engine was hot. I'll have to test more when its colder.

- Some changes to the HUD as well, in my driveway it did not show the speed limit. Now it shows a little white box, no speed but it says LIMIT

EDIT: Also noticed that the brake hold feature is slightly revised, it used to take more "force" to dis-engage the brake hold feature, now its noticebly less. Took a bit for me to get used to.

I think I know the answer but have to ask here in hopes someone has good news about it: is the idrive 8.5 change still not possible for an early 2023 3 series?
All I wish they added to the bottom was a dial for upper body temperature and for fan on and off button 🥲

humisfum - no LCI G20 is getting OS8.5 We shall see how it goes with rumoured LCI2. A slider for controlling upper body air temperature will be godsend, but alas will never come for our cars! The best we can do is add this to shortcuts panel for quick(er) access.

23 LCI. I had a great experience upgrading. Start/stop is much smoother as well as braking. All my settings carried over and CarPlay works great.

The engine seems smoother too for some reason. I couldn't tell if there car was on a couple times. Maybe that's part of the improved start/stop?

On my 24' I feel it messed with the power quite a bit. The smoother feeling I think is more like a detune. Hard to describe, but the powerband feels more empty now, tip in would take off with a solid torque feeling and feels flat and needs to downshift. Maybe in my head, but it feels different and not in a good way and I swear it lost some of the few burbles it had being a 24'. Does this update reset adaptations? Maybe thats what is going on.

A week and several hundred miles of driving after installing the latest software in my 2023 M340i and I’ve noticed zero performance/throttle differences unlike what some have claimed here. And this includes my 40 mile round trip work commute. But maybe that’s just me. 🤷‍♂️

Ah yeah that’s what I feared. I made a shortcut for it too but it really is so much worse than my F30. I still kick myself for not buying that car at the end of the lease just because of the upper temp controller.

To those who have the latest update, there is one thing that's broken that I really need fixed:

Every time I am in CarPlay and I shift to "R" the rear camera takes over the display (of course) but when I put it back into "D" the display defaults to the BMW home screen and not CarPlay where I was before.

All my other/past BMW's, once done with the rear camera and back in "D" the display defaulting back to the spot I was at in CarPlay was restored.

Can anyone who has this behavior confirm whether or not this was corrected in the latest update? Thanks!

After leaving the car again overnight it allowed me to reactive CarPlay and is working again.

This may have been covered, but I didnt read it:
Did anyone notice that they removed the steering wheel vibration on lane drift. I doublechecked and the whole setting for vibration and intensity is gone. I wonder if they got rid of it since that vibrating motor that was installed in the wheel for that exact purpose was failing on a bunch of cars and creating other issues that needed a warranty remedy. Kinda Bogus to remove a feature and simply headline "driving assitance updates" or whatever the term was for part of the reason for the update.

Edit: just kidding the steering vibration option is back. It definitely wasn’t earlier and was reset back to the factory High vs where I had it. Weird that days and miles later stuff is still reloading.

toddwalton - I tried parking camera with AA and it worked as expected, returning correctly to AA after Parking Assistant is switched off. So it's seem like a CarPlay issue.

Thanks, but I'm experiencing something differently (I don't have Parking Assistant) that I hope the new update will solve:

1. My car NEVER starts up in CarPlay even though I turned the car off with CarPlay active. Unlike my past BMW's that remembered the last state, every single time I start the engine, I have to tap the CarPlay button on the display to get it active again.

2. When in CarPlay, when I put the car into Reverse gear (backup camera comes on) and then back into Drive to drive off (backup camera goes away) the display shows the iDrive home screen and doesn't go back to CarPlay even though I was just in it 5 seconds earlier. I have to tap the button again to get CarPlay back up again.

These are the behaviors with the July '23 firmware that I am currently running that I am hoping the new April '24 firmware corrects and am hoping someone who used to have my problem can confirm it is solved now. Thanks.

I did give this a shot yesterday morning and nothing had changed immediately. Turning off all the optional data does pretty much make the app useless though as all data is not visible (except the update notification). Now, about 24 hours later, my app says that my car has updated and the notification is gone. Unfortunately, all the other data is still not visible. Hoping its a temporary thing and the rest of the app starts working properly again. lol

toddwalton - I use only AA and can speak only for it. But my car automatically starts AA if it was ON while switching off the car. Actually there is a setting in AA which controls that behaviour. It provides 3 options: 1) Always 2) If used on last journey 3) Default(as set by car). If CP has similar settings, can it be that some update messed these up for you?

Mine has been stuck since February 15th. Just this morning I had a notification from the BMW app stating that the update is about to expire.

Yep mine just now notified me my upgrade is finished. Someone must have pushed an update to the app lol.
