Hi all

I have picked up my new 330e G20 LCI yesterday.
Unlike the videos I've seen on YouTube, when I use apple maps (via Apple CarPlay) and choose "map view" on my instrument cluster, I only see the turn by turn directions like in my pre LCI. I don't see the actual Apple Maps.
LCI owners, does it work for you? Is there something I'm missing?

navigation is what ur choose for the content in your instrument cluster.Or you could cycle thru all, eventually you will get it.

When using bmw maps I see the map on the instrument cluster.
However when I use Apple CarPlay and Apple Maps, I only see the next turn and it says in the instrument cluster “Route guidance via Apple CarPlay active” when I’m in map view. I don’t see the Apple Maps in the instrument cluster.
Is this a paid option? Maybe a version update?
From what I’ve seen on YouTube, iDrive8 shows the Apple Maps in the cluster if an active navigation is running and when using Apple CarPlay. But but for me…

I am using Apple Maps.
You just see Hebrew in the screenshot instead of English because that’s my language on the iPhone.
Even if I change my iPhone to English - same.

You need at least 11/2022.44. I only have .27 and that is the reason why Apple Maps will not show in the instrument cluster.

I don't know how to get the dealership to update the software. OTA/RSU shows no update available.

We don’t have OTA updates here in Israel.
How do you check your version?
How can you tell which version is the most up to date?

Page 59 of the owner's manual attached to check for upgrade. Same screen will show your software version.

Latest software version (including smaller update versions) is just found by looking at the forums. The latest general release notes will not mention sub-version number, but is located here: https://www.bmw.com.mt/en/topics/off...ade-22-11.html

I'm going to the dealership on Monday. Just wondering if it's a waste of time.

No I’m still on 11/2022.27. I’ve been checking RSU in the car and in the app. No update available.

Let me know what the dealership says.

I haven’t scheduled a dealership service because I think they won’t update the software without something else wrong in the car. They need to claim work for something and nothing else is wrong with my car yet.

Spent (too much) time at the dealership today.
They claim they've updated my version to the latest one from last week. In Israel we cannot see which version is installed. It did add Android Auto which was missing, so clearly they did something. However - apple maps still doesn't show on the cluster which is really annoying.

BTW, in order to get them to do the update, I have complained about something completely different. (1) One time I had BMW text showing on my infotainment screen which wouldn't go away. Black screen with big BMW. You could talk to the car and it would do stuff, but the screen was dead. Even resetting the infotainment (long press on Volume) didn't work. only shutting down the car and restarting it. (2) if you create phone shortcuts and you are in Apple CarPlay, it simply won't dial. You have to be in iDrive mode (not carplay) in order for it to work. This was not fixed even by the update today.
Sad to say, OS 7 was better. This one just looks nicer.

FYI I was able to remote software update from 11/2022.27 to 11/2022.60. Now Apple Maps will show in instrument cluster as long as the iPhone is running at least iOS 15.

The navigation instructions and a route arrow are in the HUD but not a graphic of the maps.
For now, only the default BMW navigation has the map in the HUD.

Google Maps probably with Android Auto.

Correct. In my 2023 LCI 330e, if I use Google maps, it shows the map and directions in the main display as well as the cluster display. Waze, on the other hand, only shows me directions on the cluster display, but the map on the main display.
