G20 LCI USB-C for music?

It looks like there's conflicting information online about whether you can use the USB-C port in the arm rest for music. On my 2023 it shows a charging only icon on it, though some manuals online say it has data transfer if you have nav (mine is fully loaded). It seems like it's charge only for the LCI...

It is charging only unfortunately, which is a dealbreaker for me (at least for now) since I use a solid state HD full of FLAC in my G20 2021

I just tested and you are correct it seems. I can play music from a USB drive while plugged in by the cup holders, but not in the armrest on the USB-C port.

If this is the case than a USB C to USB A adapter should be a fix for anyone using a USB C device

I ended up buying a Lexar JumpDrive S47 and using the USB A port by the cup holders. It's not ideal but it's really low profile and barely noticeable. Doesn't get hot. 256GB is plenty for my needs.

I have no issues with 2020 G20 using Kingston Digital 64GB Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3C Flash Drive from Amazon. I use it for both music and VIM.
