CarPlay and garages
Just got my 2023 430i gc a week ago and I park on top of a garage, when I get in my car, CarPlay connects automatically but as soon as I enter the garage it seems like there’s a loss of connection and CarPlay disconnects through out the duration of my drive through the garage and even sometimes after I exit. I either have to go looking to reconnect my phone (which fails sometimes) or wait a while for it to reconnect
Does anyone else have this issue? Annoying when I set the navigation and start driving and then I have to look at my phone until CarPlay decides to connect. Idrive7 |

I don't have that issue, but Car Play sometimes won't connect when my car is parked in the underground garage at my condo. It usually connects as I leave the garage. This doesn't happen all the time though.
My theory, which might apply in your situation, is that something in the garage materials (concrete, etc.) interferes with the WiFi between your phone and the car, or disconnects that connection, and then the same interference prevents your Bluetooth from reconnecting (handing off) your phone to the car. What I do know for sure is that Car Play is not as stable in my 2023 X3 M40 as it was in my previous 2019 330xi. I believe I read in one of the forums that it is a software issue in the current model year's I Drive system. BMW and Apple are aware of it. |

Ahh interesting! I’m suspecting it’s Wi-Fi as well cause Spotify disconnects as well. I think I’ve figure out what I need to do once I get out of the garage to make it work so it’s manageable for now but thank you for the comment. It does make sense it would be the Wi-Fi but hopefully there’s a software update to fix it in the future ^^

‘23 M340 here and I’ve also experienced the CarPlay drop off. Super random. Just cuts out and then resumes….Think 90s Cd player skipping.
Hopefully a software update fixes this |

Dropoffs are usually happening because of Wifi interference. There are some tweaks you can code on HU_MGU headunit to improve this:
WLAN_2G_TX_POWER = 20 WLAN_5G_TX_POWER = 20 WLAN_CHANNEL = 1 WLAN_5GHZ_CHANNEL = UNII3 Auto WLAN_5GHZ_CHANNEL_WIDTH = 20
