My 22 m340i is tuned on bm3. I purchased an Alcantara m performance armwrest from bmw. The writing on the arm wrest is rubbing off. I spoke to the parts department and they said any parts that are defective are covered under a 2 year warranty. The catch is I have to bring my car in and they have to replace it for me. I’m concerned that when I bring my car in they might flash it back to stock or update it. My engine warranty is already out of the window because I tuned. I’m more concerned about having to unlock it again if they do anything to the software. Do you guys think that I should be concerned if I’m only going in for them to change the arm wrest?

TLDR;
My car is tuned and I need to get an arm wrest replaced. Will they relock my car even though it has nothing to do with the computer or engine.

I would just let the service advisor know beforehand if you are no longer worried about warranty.

I see you are in socal too, I took my car to San Diego BMW for a check engine light and they asked prior to updating my car if it was tuned as they did not want to overwrite it. They seemed pretty cool about it.

Why not just communicate with the SA and ensure they understand to not touch the car other than to replace the armrest. Seems simple. Tell them to not do anything else other than armrest.

If you bring it in to fix an armrest and they decide to flash the ECM as part of the repair, I would be very concerned about their competence.

why do you feel your engine warranty is out the window due to the tune? dont tell them a damn thing and deny everything
