Sorry to dissapoint you but the 330i and 320i do not have the same engine. This has been confirmed many times. Pistons and turbocharger are certainly different. Probably intercooler too. And these are just the most important parts.

It would be foolIsh to think that BMW would miss the opportunity to increase profit by putting hi-performance parts in a less powerfull version of the engine.

Right, but the basis is the same 2.0 petrol engine, or like like the diesel 2.0 from the 318d with 150hp and the 320d 190hp.
I suppose is always the same reason: taxes.
In Portugal a G20 318d cost like 40K and a 320d 55K.
The cheaper tax market goes the 6 and 8 cilinders.😎😎

The chief mechanic at my BMW dealer told me that the 330e uses the 330i engine, and not the 320i engine, I also read this online several times. I'm not saying it is exactly the same though, but the engine is stronger than the one in the 320i.

You can also check from the BMW technical data sheets, that the 330e engine has the same compression as the 330i, but not the same as the 320i.

First tank lasted 700 klms with 4 charges. If only with gasoline engine then around 500 klms, I was worried too but the fuel consumption is lower than what I excected, so it is ok

For me is the best gearbox in the Market.
But I think the M340i is completely different engine, 6cil and 3.0 and the 330e still the 2.0 with 184 Hp

So I finally tried the range with the full electric mode, I started with a full charge and I drove normally from my house to work, and from work to my house. I drove like I always do, I did not try to save energy. AC was off though. 50% city driving and 50% out of city, at around 100km / h.

Total achieved = 52 klms

So nice mlcgd21 i get mine in 2 weeks now.. cant wait..
do you have m-paket? if you try to save energy you shud go maybe 55-58 km
i have finnaly installd my fast charger "11kw" home but bmw can only take 3.7 kw but its ok for now. If you have 17" low resistens tires you shud go 60 km easy like 225/50/17
btw tnx for sharing very intresting , now you have to try 1 normal driving with ac on and one test really economical driving.
when you drive in 80 km/h do the car drive in 8 gear?? do you know in what speed the car is most efficency ??

Yes, I have the M-pack with RFT larger tyres, so my car isn't definitely the most efficient. 17" without RFT should make a difference in consumption.

If I drove at speed limit I could maybe get close to 60 klms, I drove from home to work, and back from work to home, so it wasn't like I went more downhill than uphill, I did both directions, the 52 klms are realistic with AC off in a mix of city and off-city (80-100 kmh zones) driving.

Yes you can even drive at a little over 70 kmh in 8th gear, but I don't know at which speed the car is most efficient, between 60-90 kmh probably.

Full charge with a wallbox takes 3.5 hours.

Not necessarily, they could have been driving it hard in electric only so the range is estimated on previous driving.
I picked mine up fully charged from the dealer today and showed 48km, got home charged it again and shows 40km now.

Here are the results:

Total driven : 125km
Total electric : 51km
Fuel consumption : 4,6 liters/100km
Av speed : 60kmh

A total of 80km of the 125km was done on the motorway at 140-155kmh. Under those conditions, the fuel consumption is 6-6,5 liters/100km, which for me was very surprising for a car of this weight with a turbo petrol engine. It is the same as a similar powered diesel. It is so fuel efficient that the 40 liter tank is not a problem anymore for me, I've now gone 400km and still have more than half a tank left. And most of that has been on the motorway, driven normally/fast all the time - I didn't try to save any fuel or battery.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the new car and range. I personally find it disappointing though that the electric range is this little as I have a commute longer in round trip and would want the car to go 100 percent electric on my commute (with the gas engine only having to kick in if i go for an excursion or road trip). But I guess bmw knows their markets. Your car looks sharp, best luck with it

Really nice.

I personally cannot wait for an all Electric 3er, but in the meantime, very nice indeed.

the electric range depends on many factors, AC and outside temperatures have a big impact, but the way you drive it will impact it the most.

When I tested the electric range in full electric mode I drove with AC off, 20ºC outside, and drove my normal commute, if I went full throttle frequently the range would have been much lower than the 52 klms of course.

Anyway, from my experience the range displayed is always lower than what is possible to achieve, when I did this test it only showed 40 klms range and I drove 52 klms. I never seen more than 47 klms range displayed.

If you use it on electric power alone, does it feel too slugish for city commute or does the electric torque make up for that ?
