Lightbulb M340i - which color?

Hi,
I am currently buying the M340i touring and I am not sure which color to choose. The Individual colors looks great, but are they worth 2000$?
Can you please tell me your ideas, what have you bought a post some pictures to help me decide? It doesn't have to be touring, I would like to see some sedans as well.

thanks for any info!

Leasing or buying? If leasing, individual colors are less than $20 USD more per month than standard metallic paints. I went Tanzanite but was very close to going Dravit. I think sapphire black or white would be my "standard" color choices.

Not sure of the prices of the colors in your area but in the US at least alpine white is free and every metallic paint is $550 other than Tanzanite and Dravit for $1950.

You can't really go wrong with these IMO:

- White (free) with shadowline trim pieces and black wheels for contrast
- Black with shadowline trim pieces and black wheels for a nice murdered out look
- Portimao Blue if you want something that stands out.
- Dravit is nice too and I believe it's cheaper than in the US to option.

Personally I went with Portimao as I feel BMWs look best in either white or blue.

The choice to spend $2,000 on a color is completely subjective. If you feel it's worth it, since you'll be seeing/driving the car everyday, than definitely go for it.

I got Mineral Gray. It's a nice color, although a bit common. I see the color everywhere, on different brands of cars. Personally, I would go with Portimao Blue - more unique and suits the car, well.

For some reason, I'm not a fan of white on these cars. Something about the rear quarter panel looking larger, because of the white. I think it hides the crease that's there, which is meant to break up that large space.

Can we get the individual matte grey for $2000? Or does that color cost more?

I’m actually buying it. Are you happy with the Tanzanie? I dont want anything striking to the eyes because of the company car policy that I’m working for. Thats why I do not prefere portiamo blue. I am wondering if even the tanzanite blue isn’t to much blue, are you able to post some images? I am also considering one of the oxid grey metallic or citrine black metallic, but it looks like nobody has gone this way 😀

I don’t think they offer matte paints.

Me too, I don’t think that the M bronze style elements distinguish in the white colors. And it’s also always dirty😀

TBII is a very elegant blue. Not too flashy.

I got the Dravit grey. It looks okay in photo, but really amazing in person, especially if you choose the cognac leather. Best color for g20 IMO.

Is tanzanite 2 lighter than tanzanite 1 ,I had a 2014 335 with tanzanite and unless it was sunny it seemed a little too dark?

I think it is a little lighter. There is a subtle difference.

M340i sedan in Oxide Grey looks really good, had one in my local showroom yesterday, very tasty, IMO. It is my first choice for an M340i wagon.

The G20 comes across as a larger car than previous 3-Series models. As such, it is probably better suited to more subtle colors, akin to a 5-Series. The color's pairing with the Cerium Gray trim color is also a consideration.

Here are my takes on the color selections that were available to me:

Alpine White: White color. Common.
Black Sapphire Metallic: Black color. Suits the car well. Hard to maintain finish. Common.
Mineral White Metallic: White color. Common.
Mineral Grey Metallic: Gray color. Common on non-BMW vehicles.
Sunset Orange Metallic: Rust-orange color. Looks a bit flashy on the G20.
Portimao Blue Metallic: Bright blue color. Looks a bit flashy on the G20.
Dravit Grey Metallic: Cement gray color with gold highlight. Looks gray in all but the very brightest sunlight.
Tanzanite Blue II Metallic: Black-navy blue color. High contrast from shadows to light. Looks "candy" blue color in sunlight. Looks black in shadow. Hard to maintain color.

I wasn't thrilled by the color selection available for the M340i in the United States. I think there are better colors available on the 330i, such as Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic and Vermont Bronze Metallic. Unfortunately, since this is a really serious performance vehicle, it needs to come in bland colors.

I selected Tanzanite Blue II Metallic. I liked the Sapphire Black Metallic color, but i figured if I was going to deal with the maintenance, I might as well get Tanzanite Blue II Metallic instead. Also, the additional cost and lack of (easy) availability on the 330i should ensure this color remains a rarity on the road.

Drove my 2 last BMWs in black saphire for 12 years...

Ordered my new m340 in tanzanite and happy to do so after seeing the color live 😊

Hi,
I thought long & hard over the color, but finally opted for Tanzanite Blue II -- with Cognac interior & Maple open pores trim, it really looks great!

Another consideration: My client advisor, er, advised me that the two Individual colors are restricted to customer sold orders by BMW. That is, vehicles designated for dealer inventory are not able to be ordered with Individual colors. Customer sold orders have no such limitations. Now, that's not saying that some shenanigans can't lead to Individual colors on dealer lots. In fact, I ended up at the dealership I ultimately purchased from because they had a Dravit Grey Metallic model on the lot.

Could be a customer ordered car who backed out and cancelled the purchase.
