Give the others a couple of years to catch up to BMW it will no longer be leading the pack and will need an LCI power bump to keep up.

Horsepower and weight are by far most relevant when it comes to determining speed. Especially when you're talking about a 1/4 mi drag race.

There is something wrong...
1/4mi times aren't equal for all weather conditions, drivers, and road conditions. You can only compare when cars are tested in the exact same conditions which is why you shouldn't really be concentrating on the times here, just the difference in the times.

I drove a new 2019 BMW M340 for a couple of days. It is an amazing car. It has very strong acceleration and it handles well. The interior is relatively quiet and it gets excellent fuel economy on the highway. Over the course of 350 mainly highway miles, at an average speed of about 75MPH the car returned 37MPG. One thing I did not like was the lane keeping technology. If the car drifts towards the outside of a lane the car is nudged back into the lane, which is fine. However, if you signal a lane change the nannies do not kick in. I did try to change lanes without signaling and the car reacted in a disconcerting manner. I was able to override the lane keeping software, but not before the car strongly tried to keep the car in my lane. In fact, the car actually felt "sloppy" and disconcerting when I forced the lane change without signaling. This could be problematic in a panic lane change situation. My verdict is that it is a great car. And, as long as you always signal a lane change you'll be fine with the lane keeping technology.

You can turn it off, and if you are in emergency you can definitely over power it with 2 hands (I have 2019 540 I don't completely turn it off just make the feedback less)

In Europe they changed over to diesel only for the 2020 S4/S5 models. The North American market ones are still going to be regular gas engines.
This is weird as (at least here in NL) diesels are becoming pariah...although diesels are still prevalent throughout EU they are restricting their access in many urban areas, etc

I'm thinking this could soon change. Modern diesels are cleaner than petrol equivalents and the latest emit fractional amounts if any NOx which was the last target on diesels....

I'd go as far as saying they are near as damn it on par with electric cars. (Nobody takes into account how electricity gets to the cars or what happens to the lithium batteries and how they are produced...)

Slightly off-topic but whomever directed that video wasn't fooling anyone with the cuts between two clearly different days or times of day (dark and stormy vs dry).

Also they seemed to focus on the slowest car far too much, barely a passing comment to the M340i... wtf

When it comes to the 4 pot cars, the Audi and BMW will be quite close. In fact, my stock A4 B9 did the 0-60 in 5.2s, which I think is slightly faster than my G20. With a racechip and an intake alone, my A4 felt so much faster than my current G20. And yes. Audi has the best brakes. Even my A4 was grippier and shed speed real fast and in a shorter distance compared to my G20. Had better pedal feel too.
