Pre LCI shifter on LCI
Never was a fan of the little nub shifter for the LCIs so I decided to look into swapping it for the pre LCI shifter. Did some looking and found out it’s plug and play, ordered a unit off eBay that matched my button layout and installed it. Loving how it looks and it’s so much better than the nub imo.

And it works with the up and downshifting?

Awesome. My S3 has a nub and I definitely wouldn't say I like it, but have gotten used to it. I wouldn't mind switching it out for a proper shifter.
Out of interest, have you checked for any codes etc? |

^^ That’s not the exact person I purchased from cause I got the last one from my buyer, but same thing. You can also look for ones that include the media wheel as well if you didn’t wanna have to swap yours over since it is slightly tedious, but still very doable. The install is extremely easy though, just look up a video on how to remove the trim around the shifter and it’s as simple as 4 t20s and two wires connecting to the bottom of the unit. |

Preciate u boss, lmk if you ever get one and need some help with the install, there are some tricky bits that either aren’t online at all, or just aren’t explained well in video.

Managed to pick one up today as well, will be yet another early mod once my car finally arrives. Thanks for being the guinea pig!

Out of curiosity, I noticed your original shifter didn't have the adaptive button, but the new one does. My car will be the same. Does the adaptive mode work now?

Nah, it’s just there cause they don’t have adaptive mode in idrive 8, same with the auto start stop button.

That's interesting as here in Australia we have the auto start/stop button which functions. I thought seeing as how you could code the adaptive mode (pretty sure that's true, maybe i'm just misremembering) maybe the button could work too

Yeah, BMW does dumb shit like that for some reason. Like I genuinely don’t understand who at BMW was just like hey let’s take away the auto start stop button on the new models, not like everyone hates the auto start stop or anything. Adaptive mode tho idk, I’m sure you could code it in, but idc enough to do that.

Easily one of the best mods I’ve done to the car so far. So subtle, but being able to shift up and down with one hand makes it so much more comfortable normally driving.

Hey do you think it’s possible for you to make a video or go in depth of how to do this mod? I would greatly appreciate it. |
