Durability of a Carbon Fiber Front Lip
For those with experience running a carbon lip / front splitter... hoping you could share some perspective around it's lifespan. Do these slowly shred from everyday wear & tear from the road or are they generally pretty durable?
Any specific care or product I need to consider that might give it some added resilience? Appreciate the insight. Last edited by miked1999; 08-28-2020 at 11:14 AM.. |

If you are not lowered you should be okay. I have been running CF for a long time although my lip currently is gloss black. A lip especially if you don't buy OEM does not cost that much maybe $150-$200 so at that price you can change it out with your tires practically. I personally only have OEM parts that I had port installed but a lot of my friends run ebay parts

With brittle materials like plastics, CF and fiberglass, all it takes is one single hit for a hairline fracture to happen, if not an all out crack or breakage. At the very least, you'll get fine spiderweb cracks on a painted surface. I personally love urethane, and even those new "flex" plastics are great for absorbing impact, but the downside is they don't paint very well, and not many aftermarket places produce these due to high cost. To SunsetSleeper's point, the brittle stuff is pretty affordable, so worst case is you crack/damage it, you can decide to take it off and it won't hurt your wallet that bad.
