Considering smoke tint vinyl wrap for my lights

Hi all,

I'm interested in getting smoke tint vinyl wrap. Two questions:

1. Would it look odd if it's only the back lights but not the front lights?
2. Why would I want to decrease visibility putting smoke tint on the front lights?

I will never understand the need to tint lights on a vehicle. You are decreasing the safety of you vehicle, by diminishing the available light from either end, you are increasing your chances of being hit.

But, I am an old ass dude, what do I know.

I'm old to, and I concur. Why would you reduce the lighting on your car, it reduces your ability to see and be seen. And for what it's worth and this is just my opinion but I think it looks cheap.

It's ugly and dangerous.
Pretty hefty price to pay to be different imho.

So you don't understand cosmetic mods?

As long as you don't go stupid dark, light comes through fine. Want more light? Upgrade to LED lighting.

I have my taillights tinted, not really a fan of them anymore. (Looks cheesy compared to black lines)
Save up some money, have the headlights color matched and buy some black lines.

I used laminx tint for my HL, TL, and fogs. No issues with light output or anything. I'm very happy with the look as many others have noticed in my car group.

Google "LCI blacklines".
It's not a tint but a full oem tail light assembly.

Understand cosmetic mods, just fine. Just have no idea why anyone would want to make their vehicle less visible, in the land of people that cannot see you when all is good. I will stop

In most states, altering the light assemblies by tinting in any way is illegal. Even if it's 1 percent.

Also, the OP's sig states that he's in LA county. If he is, indeed, in SoCal, I wouldn't even think about doing it since that state is pretty much the most draconian when it comes to modding cars.

Do what you want, OP. But that you're asking this forum's advice about it tells me that you're unsure. For the reasons stated above, I would seriously consider leaving well enough (and legal) alone.

If you're gonna tint, have them sprayed by a body shop. Looks great. Save the film for your windows. Has no business on lights imo.

Not everyone likes LCI Blacklines. Spray tinting is a great option for something more custom. Have them keep the spray light to keep it useful and actually looking like a light assembly.

Yes, but honestly it would look odd even WITH the front lights. It's LESS odd with both tinted.

You don't unless it's a "show" car that isn't driven at night.

I have to admit, however, that some cars look good with yellow tinted lights. It technically doesn't decrease your light output as much as black tint.

You can't tell me this doesn't look like it means business:

Does it belong on a street car? That's up to you to decide.

To each his own.... though I personally hate limo tint blacked out tail lights. But i couldnt stand the bright red either... specially since im going for a more stealthy look for my build. So Here's what i did. I went with medium vinyl tint. I decided to cut out the brake light pattern to give it some depth and to pop out some reds back. (Btw, im not a big fan of LCI tail light pattern) Pictures are with lights off. It came out pretty sick imo.

Tinted headlights is not necessary nor is it a good idea... i u really want it... u should consider just blacked out inner housing instead like those on ONEighty or OSS... it just looks better imo. Its what im planning on doing soon.
