Explained to dealer they're like usb and have no idea what I'm talking about... I explained and now they're like it takes 4hrs if we can find it. Considering waiting for OTA to work.

Does your car now have Spotify?

Unfortunately no, even though the software updated I don't see Spotify in the menu. Any pointers on why that could be?

Oh interesting they are on 7/2019.47 now, wonder what changes occurred between that and .39?!

This caught my eye as well. At this point I'll be surprised if we get a X/2019 OTA update before January.

Had 7/2019.39 update done while getting window replaced. They had no knowledge of a 7/2019.47 version. Not very excited. Icons are updated, carplay definitely seems to work better, need to see if it helps with the audio delay while on the phone. It didn't update the active driving view.

People had complained about LEDS, auto seat belt tensioner and sport steering being effected. For me the seat belt tensioning did get deactivated. I brought it up and they had no idea. Will require a memo to someone higher up.

Would I do it? I would just for the better carplay connectivity but it's frustrating that one thing is fixed and another gets "broken". Feels like Beta testing...gotta love it...

***update*** 9/13
-Seat belt pretensioners started working the next day.
- "Hey BMW" needed to be reset to start working again.
- remote start needed to be reset.
- carplay is definitely better and the delay for phone call audio seems to have been rectified.

Had 07/2019.47 installed yesterday. No CarPlay connection issues so far Only visual difference I noticed are the app icons, and there is a Spotify icon on the CarPlay home screen

I wrote about the 'seat belt pre-tensioners' on this thread on 8/15 once I was updated to 07.2019.39 since I thought they deactivated them, but got no answers. Weird that they just started working after like 2 days so I'm not too sure what happened. It's frustrating like you said that one thing is fixed and 2 things break.

Did the previous iDrive systems have glitches and bugs as well or was it more thoroughly tested prior to rollout?

I think it's clear BMW is rushing out software updates to keep up with the likes of Tesla, and we're seeing the lacking quality as consumers.

IDrive 6 had initial issues, but they pale compared to what iDrive 7 users are experiencing. It's now been nearly a year and the bug list is still a mile long. And, so far, remote software upgrade hasn't proved to be a big help.

Hopefully BMW is learning from this (less than acceptable) user experience.

As a first time BMW owner and expecting it to be an extremely welcoming and pleasant experience, I have been slightly let down by the iDrive issues. The car is amazing to drive, and I enjoy every moment I step into it... its just the iDrive issues are always occurring. I'm always worried something else will happen the next time I get into the car. Ex: Since yesterday, the 'News' App is not working... BMW Genius said give it 24 hours or you'll have to take it to the dealer since we updated it and no changes occurred. Seriously? Yea its not a big deal I get it, but if its included in the vehicle I would like to be able to use the feature at times.

Some of you may say to quit complaining, we are early adopters of a new software.... Well I just happen to work in the tech industry and I know a bit about beta testing and early adopters, and this is usually not the way to go about managing it. This should have been a controlled roll out so you can address the common issues people are having at least prior to general release. Of course software will always have issues, but hopefully BMW has a plan in place for future testing prior to mass rollouts.

You have a Spotify icon/interface on a US model? Can you show us?

Clearly BMW is stressed about the competition and keeping their position in the market. There's nothing worse than being forced to idle production due to lackluster sales. It's extremely costly. So, they do what they can to keep the machine moving forward. Audi and Benz have modernized their infotainment systems forcing BMW to do the same to not be criticized for a second rate system.

Engineering wants perfection

Software engineers would call their code beta forever, if given the opportunity.

Corporate is bean counting and accountable to shareholders

Marketing wants it all, and they want it yesterday, so they look like geniuses.

Lots of forces at play in a multi billion Euro company. Welcome to product beta testing on your $¥€£ or whatever your currency is.

I just took delivery of my 2020 M340i xDrive and it has 07.2019.30. I have Driver Assistance Pro and was able to turn on the Assisted Driving View, but so far when I've seen it, it doesn't show trucks as trucks on the screen, it just shows cars.

No issues so far *knock on wood*, ACP seems to connect just fine - so maybe I'll just wait for the OTA updates.

And this was done from the factory not through coding? If so that's pretty promising that this will be available as an update at some point.

Yes, the car came with it, I asked the dealer to update it to whatever the latest version was, but they said they wouldn't do it unless it was to solve a specific problem because otherwise BMW would not pay them for the time to do the update.

I, too, just took delivery of my M340i. It has software version 07/2019.30 as well. I have an option for the Assisted Driving View.

All MY2020 cars (i.e. built from July on) have assisted driving view.

The problem is that all earlier cars don't have it even after an upgrade to the latest software.

However, people found out that you can code it in. So maybe it's just that dealer updates won't or can't change the coding; the question remains whether the forthcoming OTA would be able and if so, if BMW enables those features then.

First I'm hearing of this. Do you have more information / details?

Somebody on a german forum did it: https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/assi...8#post57224692 translation: "Yeah, I successfully coded Assisted Driving View and Lane Change Assistant on a 330i with
07/2019-39". (Lane Change Assistant is not active on german G20s due to regulatory issues).

He did not specify the needed parameters so far, though.

Lane change assistant sounds awesome but I haven't read a single piece of evidence the g20 supports it. So only a single claim of a guy who said he did it but not how or any explanation is marginal at best..

I believe there have been G20s just MY 2020, I've not heard of any MY 2019 that have it enabled, besides apparently being coded. Even with the software update.

Why that is baffles me, unless there are actual hardware differences, curious what those are between the 2019 and 2020.
