Explained to dealer they're like usb and have no idea what I'm talking about... I explained and now they're like it takes 4hrs if we can find it. Considering waiting for OTA to work.

Had 7/2019.39 update done while getting window replaced. They had no knowledge of a 7/2019.47 version. Not very excited. Icons are updated, carplay definitely seems to work better, need to see if it helps with the audio delay while on the phone. It didn't update the active driving view.
People had complained about LEDS, auto seat belt tensioner and sport steering being effected. For me the seat belt tensioning did get deactivated. I brought it up and they had no idea. Will require a memo to someone higher up. Would I do it? I would just for the better carplay connectivity but it's frustrating that one thing is fixed and another gets "broken". Feels like Beta testing...gotta love it... ***update*** 9/13 -Seat belt pretensioners started working the next day. - "Hey BMW" needed to be reset to start working again. - remote start needed to be reset. - carplay is definitely better and the delay for phone call audio seems to have been rectified. |

Did the previous iDrive systems have glitches and bugs as well or was it more thoroughly tested prior to rollout? Last edited by premier3is; 09-12-2019 at 07:29 PM.. |

Hopefully BMW is learning from this (less than acceptable) user experience.

Some of you may say to quit complaining, we are early adopters of a new software.... Well I just happen to work in the tech industry and I know a bit about beta testing and early adopters, and this is usually not the way to go about managing it. This should have been a controlled roll out so you can address the common issues people are having at least prior to general release. Of course software will always have issues, but hopefully BMW has a plan in place for future testing prior to mass rollouts. Last edited by premier3is; 09-13-2019 at 12:33 AM.. |

Clearly BMW is stressed about the competition and keeping their position in the market. There's nothing worse than being forced to idle production due to lackluster sales. It's extremely costly. So, they do what they can to keep the machine moving forward. Audi and Benz have modernized their infotainment systems forcing BMW to do the same to not be criticized for a second rate system.
Engineering wants perfection Software engineers would call their code beta forever, if given the opportunity. Corporate is bean counting and accountable to shareholders Marketing wants it all, and they want it yesterday, so they look like geniuses. Lots of forces at play in a multi billion Euro company. Welcome to product beta testing on your $¥€£ or whatever your currency is.

I just took delivery of my 2020 M340i xDrive and it has 07.2019.30. I have Driver Assistance Pro and was able to turn on the Assisted Driving View, but so far when I've seen it, it doesn't show trucks as trucks on the screen, it just shows cars.
No issues so far *knock on wood*, ACP seems to connect just fine - so maybe I'll just wait for the OTA updates. |

Yes, the car came with it, I asked the dealer to update it to whatever the latest version was, but they said they wouldn't do it unless it was to solve a specific problem because otherwise BMW would not pay them for the time to do the update.

The problem is that all earlier cars don't have it even after an upgrade to the latest software. However, people found out that you can code it in. So maybe it's just that dealer updates won't or can't change the coding; the question remains whether the forthcoming OTA would be able and if so, if BMW enables those features then. |

07/2019-39". (Lane Change Assistant is not active on german G20s due to regulatory issues). He did not specify the needed parameters so far, though. |

Lane change assistant sounds awesome but I haven't read a single piece of evidence the g20 supports it. So only a single claim of a guy who said he did it but not how or any explanation is marginal at best..

Why that is baffles me, unless there are actual hardware differences, curious what those are between the 2019 and 2020. |
