Pretty lame. They just want our groceries to roll around? At least they should have grocery bag hooks I use those all the time in my F30. I'm pretty sure they still have them in the Toyota Camry. Another thing they don't have is adjustable seat belt anchors. Even my X5 loaner doesn't have those and I have those in my 2011 Camry. $50-$60k plus car should have that standard. How much money are they trying to save not including those?

What's also bad is that the under-trunk storage cubby is now also gone. That's where I stash my laptop bag and car cleaning supplies.

You don't have a space if you don't get the spare? I put my iPad in there so I can lower the rear seat and it looks like the trunk is empty other than groceries I'm trying to keep cool with the AC.

I ended up installing the ordered hooks.
Instead of putting them in the location where they normally are, I settled for using the holes already in the trunk carpeting.

Here is the end result:

I just took delivery, M340i xDrive... I have one hook on the left installed, no net on the floor and what is the most disappointing, there is no storage area under the floor anymore. The battery is under the floor now, there is some space to the left and right of it for something small, but its tough to get the lid open and there are some wires down there so storage might be risky.

Pulled out with a screw driver easily.
The design has locking built into it.
They're pretty solid.

Looks like what you get depends on if you have a spare or not. My M340i xDrive has one since I got 18” non run flats and there was not a hook or net to be found on either side. To be honest, I didn’t even know grocery hooks were a thing until this thread so thanks to all.

I installed two BMW 51477258562 hooks from ECS on both sides and two of the flip down VW/Audi thingies from Amazon. The flip down ones did require removing the lips around the screw holes for them to fit flush – which I did with a small chisel. Used a 1” long SS screw and there was more than enough clearance not to hit anything.

Original hole cover. Note lip to fit screwdriver to remove

Take a look at mine or phillyd2's pictures.
Notice where the hooks are, you should see a plastic circle there in your car. You just need to pop out those things using a flat head screwdriver, and replace with the part ordered.

I'm a big fan of the net in my 340. I wonder if you could buy one and install it on the floor of the M340 even if it meant drilling 4 holes?

You can in fact do that.. I am working on it right now. I did some research and found this link: https://www.drive2.com/l/8828657/

I got a net on ebay for $6 and am working on ordering the plastic pieces. I have access to a machine shop so I think I'm going to make the metal punch that the previous link talks about. I am also thinking about just laser cutting the holes, I have access to a very powerful laser at work.

I was planning on writing a how to when I finish the mod.

Alex.

As my car gets closer, I find this thread very interesting.

Another interesting fact: 5 years ago I would not have noticed a trunk full of "disposable" plastic bags.

I'll wait for this. Would be really nice to have.
I also want to add the amazon hooks that phillyd2 added.

If there's a link to those hooks, that would be much appreciated.
