Nail in Run Flat Tyre

Just looking for experiences on getting run flat tyres repaired. My car was in for a service today and the tech noticed a nail in one of the rear tyres. I've no idea how long it's been there but the tyre is holding air and I'm wondering what to do.

I know a lot of places get funny about repairing run flats so should I try to get it fixed or just keep running it with the nail in. The tyre has just over 4mm of tread left so it probably won't be that long before I need to change them anyway.

if the nail is far enough away from the edge/shoulder of the tyre then you should be able to get it repaired. I have done so in the past but I did have to go to a few places as many of them refused to touch it

Plug it yourself, surprisingly easy to do.

I had similar and phoned BMW assist and the guy was with me within 45 minutes and plugged it.
As it had only just lost pressure after I got home he said it would be fine.
Been ok since
Nail was in between treads in the middle

Yep repairable if it’s not too close to the edge - a good independent tyre place will do it for probably £20 ish.

I had mine repaired once and it even went to BMW for a service and was advised but nothing else. No issues for me.

A decent indie tyre place will do a repair as long as the tyre hasn’t actually been “run flat” for too long.

Had a problem with this, most tyres places near me just want to sell you a new tyre. However there are a couple who will repair them. I had one repaired well over a year ago and it has been fine for 20k, can’t see the problem with repairing them

Thanks, I'll give some smaller places a go and see what happens.

Had several punctures over the years repaired on run-flat tyres that I've used exclusively since 2007 and never had a problem. So long as the tyre has not been ran in the 'run flat mode' then absolutely no reason why it can't have a puncture repaired if it's in the 'repairable zone' of the tread.
Hell I've ran at autobahn speeds with puncture repaired tyres!
My local BMW dealer we use for all our servicing has no problem repairing a punctured tyre so long as all the safety conditions are met.

I've had one repaired before too. As long as it hasn't been run whilst flat it's the same as any other tyre
