To those running the M cluster on their 330is.

Can you see the gear indicator in S? I can’t see it when I put the shifter in S. I can see it when it’s in D, P, R, N. I can see only numbers when I’m in M (1, 2, 3 etc). But in S, it’s blank. Is it the same for everyone else?

I had a question about switching back to the stock cluster. When you guys switch back to the stock cluster, do you guys just code it back to the BMW cluster or do you guys just restore a stock backup?

I had the M one and tried to just change it back to the regular. It had an M40d badge in the cockpit so I had to go back to a backup

Well shit. I hope I don’t have that M40d badge when I go back to stock. Headed to NY early tomorrow morning so I’ll have to wait till next week when I’m back to try it out

Restore from backup is easiest. If you switch to “BMW” you need to go to expert mode and change the logo in there. I forget what option it is.

Ah gotcha. I have that set to kein logo like someone mentioned earlier. That helped get rid of the alpina logo but the green in sport mode got the better of me. I’m using the M cluster now and I like it except for the no indication of which gear in S.
Also, there’s a way you can find out if you’re in comfort or sport mode. Comfort has two red markings where the needles point at on the speedometer and tachometer. Sport doesn’t have those red markings.

Also running the M cluster. I can't see the drive mode information and also 'S' doesn't show when putting the shifter into 'S', as well.

With the Alpina cluster, I have a problem where the speedometer is not calibrated with the actual speed! It's usually displaying speeds way in excess of my current GPS/actual vehicle speed.

Sticking with the M cluster for now and using the lines on the speedometer to see what mode I'm in. I have to glance at the iDrive screen every once in a while to see if I'm in Eco Pro Indv. or Eco Pro Std. Same with Sport, Sport+ and Sport Indv.

Pressing the traction button at any time gives you a "MDM" mode on your dash though. I'm sure that adds like 500hp+

Same though I've coded my car to start in sport individual mode. So I'm not too worried about which mode I'm in

I also noticed that my car on the M cluster also goes to 8000 rpm and there's no redline which is kind of annoying.

I guess the redline could be coded in. I haven't delved into coding it on Bimmercode, since I don't understand the German titles, keywords etc. and don't want to mess things up that I can't understand

But overall, I think the Alpina cluster provides the most functionality. I just have the issue of it not being calibrated to my actual speed.

You cannot code RPM redline for B48 with M cluster. There is simply no such setting. The module you are looking for is DZM_VARIANTE and all you have to do is change from default (benziner_ohne_b58) to (benziner_b58), that will give you RPM redline for B58 with M cluster. Pretty sure it is in DKOMBI4.

Is it possible to have the M cluster, with my "M340i" logo and rpm like the b58 (7000 and not 8000)?

Hi. Sorry to jump into your thread like this but are you using Esys? I've been told in another thread that you can't use a Bluetooth dongle with Esys so was just wondering if you could if you were prepared to put up with the slow speed?

It's possible, my mistake from before but I'm pretty sure benziner_b58 will work because B58 also has 6500 RPM for redline.

For esys, I believe you need a wired enet adapter. Not sure the Bluetooth dongle will work.

I can prove it. Look at attached screenshot, there's only 4 options in there besides diesel, and there is no B48 G20 that will be configured with M Instrument Cluster. The other 2 engine RPM options are too high, and B58 is still too high, but it's pretty close.

What version of software is your car on? I remember people saying this was an issue on older software (before 07.2019.XX), but I've been running the Alpina cluster for months now and have never seen a speed discrepancy.

@g20beam thanks for all your inputs - really amazing that you're taking your time helping with coding!

I have 2 questions:

1) I'm also curious to see if I can keep the M cluster (see pictures) and reduce RPM to that of a B58 engine.

2) is there ANY way to bring the RPM gauge back to HUD in "sport" mode while keeping M display?

Thanks much!!
