Yes, there are select BMW dealers that unlock the DME and flash the CarBahn tune on site. I also used Thompson in PA.

I've had a Carbahn ECU tune and a Dinan Piggyback. The Carbahn ECU tune is waaaaaaay better !!!!!!

My shop (who's a Dinan authorized dealer) told me that for Dinan they have to ship out the ecu to Dinan to be unlocked which would take a few days whereas the Carbahn tune can just be done same day. They also said that any software updates at bmw would probably overwrite the tune and I would have to go back fo get retuned.

Something to consider

Does Dinan require it to be shipped out each time after an update, or can the dealer refresh it after its been unlocked?

No idea but having the car be down a few days for that to happen is not an option for me

I've never had either as a tune, but comparing a flash tune to a piggyback is neve gonna be on the same level.

If it's unlocked the DME can be flashed at the dealer. Problem is when its updated at a dealer it typically is re-locked in the process hence the need to be shipped out again. There are some dealers that have invested in 3rd party unlock tools but those tools arent exactly inexpensive so most shops are not equipped to do the unlocking themselves.

Will over the air updates done thru the bmw app, relock it? Or is it just something that the dealers do?

OTA updates will relock the DME as well. Pretty much the only time it would NOT be relocked is if the car is only having a specific module updated. However this happens so incredibly rarely as most dealership personnel have been trained to just reflash the entirety of the DME to make sure everything is up to date. Probably the right practice but not one a person with a tune would appreciate.

Since everyone is complaining about losing burbles and exhaust sound, are you guys planning to add that as an option with your tunes?

Any news on the remote start fix?

Maybe I misread this but are these tunes available for the 21 models?

Twas resolved awhile ago (7-2-2021 was when the flashes were officially updated with the new code). No digital key required. Just works like it did from the factory. I believe we are still the only ones that have a full fix but I could be wrong -- havent been diligent in keeping up with that one.

I've just ordered a M440i convertible and am looking to add the Carbahn tune added upon delivery. I'm concerned about what exactly the $750 warranty covers. It states

If your vehicle is currently covered by the vehicle manufacturer’s new car limited warranty, CarBahn Autoworks’ products are warranted for the remaining term of the vehicle manufacturer’s new car limited warranty...

So does the warranty cover the car for damage caused by the tune or does it cover just the CarBahn Autoworks’ products?

Unless something has changed. You won't need to worry about this as your new 2022 will not be able to be flashed.

Sending an ECU to an overseas country is not an option for most of us. I disagree it not flashable. Bring your services to the states and change our minds

Please don't start talking about "I'm not going to..." again.
If you're "not going to", that's fine, but other users don't mind sending us their ECUs and they're already enjoying their tuned cars.
Please don't decide what is best for other people.
There is a flashing option for 06.2020+, 2021 and 2022 cars and you'll have to accept it.
We can't bring our services to the states at this moment, sorry. But we doing everything possible to simplify our customer's life - most of the well-known phone flasher apps / flasher platforms are now supporting flashing after our unlock.

I wish BMW would give dinan or carbahn a backdoor to tune DME locked cars for those who purchase tunes with warranty.

Aftermarket tuning is probably more of an annoyance for BMW than anything else...
