Wireless Charging Pad

I'm picking up a 2021 330. Due to the pandemic, the car was built with no NFC nor a Wireless Charging Pad. I really want to retrofit the OEM Wireless Charging Pad. Has anyone done it? Do you know if the Wiring Harness is there under the Cupholder? Any write ups or technical info on this would be appreciated.

TIA.

Quite a few threads on the wireless bbq phone heating pad.
Have it on mine as spec from factory. Like others have said, it doesn't do much apart from heat up your phone (iPhone 12 user here).
Does seem to charge better when you're not using it for car play, but it's pretty slow even when it does charge.
With car play and music playing, it seems to be only powerful enough to just keep the level of charge.

I've gone through a few threads but still can't find someone who retrofitted one that didn't have anything.

Because of the supply issues the car came without it and the digital key was also removed as a result. They gave me $200 off plus another $100 for the removal of the lumbar support on the passenger seat. Lots of supply issues.

Good that you got some discount due to supply issues!
Apologies I wasn't clear, the threads i was referring to was more about the OEM wireless charging pad being pretty useless and not about retro fitting. So you may want to reconsider fitting it, and spend the saving on something else. Just a thought

I know. Our G05 X5 heats up as well but not always. Its my daughter's new 330. She wants OEM so I'm trying to appease the young lady.

If anyone can help me out that would be good.

It's definitely possible to retrofit the OEM wireless charging and NFC pad. You would need to likely splice 4 wires to make it work, 1 ground, 1 power (likely can take it from the power outlet) and 2 K-CAN7 high and low cables to BDC. Also you'll require to code out the deletion and code in the wireless charging pad.

Do keep in mind you'll also need an NFC Driver's side door handle and the NFC digital key card for the digital key functionality.

Reason for the digital key card also needing to be purchased is because due to 32Z - Deletion of Digital Key, it is likely that they disabled the Apple Car Key/Android NFC key functionality from the ConnectedDrive server since it dictates the car wasn't equipped with the NFC hardware.

Therefore it may only be possible to have the NFC digital card key being able to pair with the system as a result.

I'll have to open it up and see if there is any pre-existing wiring harness. I hope that's the case as it would have come with it. I'm only interested in the wireless charging pad. Don't think I'm confident enough to be splicing 4 wires.

The OEM wireless charging pad doubles as an NFC reader. You can put you digital key on the pad to start the car.

The OEM part likely has both charging and NFC integrated. Maybe can get away with just splicing power so at least the charging is working?

Going to try an aftermarket one that looks close and connects to the 12V Power Supply through a connection rather than splicing wires. Not happy about taking this route as I was hoping the wiring harness was available to access.

I also missed out on the OEM pad but from my experience it charges very slowly and mainly just heats up the phone.

I saw a thread where someone ran a magsafe charger wire under the console and left it sitting where the OEM pad goes. I'm going to do that but go one further and build a box for it so it so it fits better

Hey I’m in the same boat with my 330 (no charge pad or nfc), how did the third party option work out for you? What parts did you use?

I got that aftermarket one because it was a no brainer to install. It does the trick and charges just fine. Didn't heat up like the OEM one in the X5.

I was going to go with OEM but I couldn't find the wiring harness that we would have needed to hook it up.
