Just how noticeable is the difference? Can you describe how it changed the sound in more detail?

Thanks!
I dont think anyone can really describe it, and videos don't really do it justice. If u want load and aggressive then u will love a downpipe, and it's not as loud as a mustang. Why don't u find a local group or meet up, I'm sure it won't be hard to come across someone who has one.
I installed mine today. It's louder, but very mild in my opinion on my 2021 m340i. Still considering getting an exhaust as I wanted to see how loud the downpipe made the car.
You installed the AA catted? Are you running a stock exhaust?

I have the AWE, cannot wait to see how they pair together
Stock exhaust. AA catted downpipe!

Here are a few 60-110 Dragy pulls.
The first is just JB4, Map 3 on E30
The second is JB4, Map 5, AA DP, MST intake on E30

The MST Intake does next to nothing, but the AA DP clearly added more oomph

Awesome, thank you for comparing power after each mod

Are u on the fence about getting one or just curious bout the numbers?
What extra stress on the turbo would the AA catted DP have?

It won't add any, its reduces the backpressure since its better flowing than the stock downpipe

Yeah, I was questioning that comment as well... In my mind it would actually decrease the stress on the turbo. Reducing backpressure means the turbo doesn't have to work as hard at a given RPM as it would normally with a stock DP.

My curiosity lies in weather or not a DP will somehow trigger the flag at the dealer. According to what I've read on here the modded flag can be triggered based upon increased PSI, or acceleration values in the system? I'd think a down pipe would do that but I'm not sure.

Meh just take It off. Atleast it won’t throw any codes they can see

It wont trigger a code and if it did (it wont ), Active will replace the downpipe

Installed the AA downpipe on my car. I also fitted the Dinan intake as part of the install.

Quick remarks on the downpipe/exhaust combination: man this thing is a effing HOOT! My car lost most of its sport mode luster after the /2021 software update; it's all back and then some. I haven't been able to grab sound clips yet, but I'm definitely going to be working on getting some tomorrow.

Having the intake in the mix adds whooshing prior to the bombastic exhaust note now. Car is entirely an aural experience.

In comfort is the cabin pretty quiet like with the stock exhaust/downpipe?

And in sport mode, does the cabin noise get much louder? Also is it a lot more loud on cold start compared to exhaust?

Are there any pops/burbles with that combo? (I know to get that it also requires a tune).

I honestly forgot how the stock exhaust sounds since installing the Dinan, so my impressions will be based on that. Overall in comfort, you wouldn't know there was a downpipe modification. You get some pops here and there, which wasn't a thing with the stock downpipe. But it's mostly the experience I was familiar with in terms of cabin noise.

Sport mode is where the real change is noticed. Exhaust gets much more lively, throaty and punchy, with more pronounced pops and burbles on let off. It's what the Dinan used to sound like before the /2021 software updates. I've coded ASD off as to only get the actual exhaust noise in the cabin, and boy is there exhaust noise.

Cold start is more or less identical. I haven't noticed any difference.

Again, these are my impressions with the Dinan exhaust in play. The exhaust is amazing at pulling off a split personality with through its design with the valves. The downpipe really makes the split more defined. It's well worth it in my book.

Here's a sound comparison between the two pipes on cold start:

I didn't tighten the exhaust clamp well on the install, so the rattle you hear is that. Gonna fix that later this afternoon.

Thank you for taking the time to do a detailed write-up, and a video of the sound. I'm running the MPE, not Dinan, and was specifically concerned about the cold start difference as its already loud. Given the DP doesn't add that much to the noise with decent aftermarket pipes, I think it might be time...

No doubt, glad I was able to help. If you've any other questions, feel free to ask.

The price of this downpipe is going up in 10 days by $100; if you are on the fence, now is the best time to place your orders.
