Ordering a New M440

Has anyone put in a new M440 order only to find it sits on the dealer's order bank list for a long time before they get a production allotment? Also, does anyone know if wireless phone charging will be available on that model soon?
Thanks

I ordered a couple of weeks back and am waiting still. I asked about the touch screen deletion as that’s more important to me and was advised that the bulletin they’d received said this was a temporary state and that hopefully would be resolved by the time mine was due to go into production. I’m less bothered by the wireless charger as it doesn’t seem to work very well!

There is no longer wireless charging for a while (BMW's implementation of it also sucks, slow charging and heats the phone up). I put mine in for about 3 weeks ago and it's currently in assembly production step. The 6UY touch deletion is still active along with no ZPK and backup assist and lumbar passenger delete .

My dealer says the order is just sitting in their order bank waiting for a production allocation. Not sure what that means

Every dealer has a certain amount of allowed allocations for each model of car. You’ll be basically be waiting for them to get an allocation, I would just reach out to see if any other dealers might have an open one.

Always look for a dealer that has allocations or can possibly trade for one....

My M340d order (Aug ‘21) sat in the UK order bank for about 6 weeks before getting a build slot. That moved from Oct ‘21 to Jan ‘22 to May ‘22 and now Mar ‘22.

Having talked at length to the sales team yesterday it is unclear when the end date for the issues and shortages will come. There was a warning about more Bluetooth functionality being removed (on top of the enhanced delete already in place).

The Dealer’s view was that it is unlikely much will be put back, and more likely that further reduction in spec will happen. They are being kept in the dark too, and are just as frustrated as their customers. If you have a good relationship with your dealer then see if they‘ll share the dealer only updates. They don’t make good reading.

We’ve agreed that no improvement by mid-Dec then we’ll cancel and try again in mid ‘22.

I ordered a 2022 M440i Convertible on 12/2 and I am anxiously awaiting a production number.

Is there a specific time in a month that dealerships get allocations? Or is it a random thing. I was hoping it was a little quicker than it is looking!!

Thanks. I selected the Arctic Race Blue shadowline model with the black leather interior with blue stitching.

I ordered nearly the same in Mid nov, got my allocation 10 days later, entered production queue the day you ordered. My car is now waiting for transport to the port with all options intact except passenger lumbar. But my dealer failed to order the free park assistant pack so make sure yours gets that right.

I did ARB with beige, hk, prem, ams.

It is my understanding that Dealers get their allocation generally at the start of the second wweek of the month.

Wait I can have them Add it? What do I need to ask him to add. Is there a code??

Thank you so much for the info.

I have yet to see ARB in person but the pictures people have posted make so happy! Tingly almost.

I have the 2019 430i convertible in Black Sapphire Metallic with Oyster interior. I love it but am excited to upgrade! LOL. Especially after a cooling pump failure a week ago and I have less than 20K miles on it currently. 😳🤨

This is my order now.

Im not in front of my paperwork, but i believe its ZPK. Parking assistant. Its the 360 camera and is a NO COST OPTION right now on m440cv. Normally its $700.

Yes ARB is beautiful in person. Its very dark in low light settings but nearly a warm med blue in reg daylight. Many get black interior with arb, but i went for contrast given how dark arb can look at night. I got canberra sensatec, but the oyster is beautiful with it also.

Just my opinion here, but I'd drop the shadowline as the black plastic grill and mirrors look cheap. Id also drop the rft and id add the hk stereo and probably the adaptive m suspension which comes in the zdh (dynamic handling pkg) with the matching cerium 19 wheels.

Advice worth what you paid for it. But move fast as you can only change before your car enters production. But since you don't have a production number yet, you should have some time.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it!

I'm a woman in the Houston area and RFT are in my mind a difference between safe and not safe depending where in the Houston metro area I am. I don't want to be roadside waiting for AAA to come to save my ass. LOL

I fully understand the last comment about liking RFT because you don't have to stop on the road to fix anything. Tunnels, bridges and rough neighborhoods are areas where its best to be able to keep driving.

I'm confused about the number of folks working with a dealer who is waiting for an allocation. When I ordered my car last March I was working with two dealers and they both had an M340i allocation for a specific week in April. If they did not have an allocation already I didn't see the point in working with them.

When I finally ordered my car it showed the allocation week in the customer order online from BMW and the car was built on that exact week of the allocation. And at the time of the order the computer already showed that the passenger side width adjustment and lumbar support would be deleted and I would get credit. I sat there at the dealer and watched him enter it into the computer. He emailed the order (with my name on it) to me as soon as it was complete. Everything was very transparent.

My experience is that it's random. I started working with my local dealership in October by giving my CA my build sheet. My must-haves were built in Germany & ZDH (Dynamic Handling Package). He couldn't guarantee anything so I walked. Lo & behold, he calls me out of the blue early this month & said "I ordered your car!". After some negotiation, I put down a refundable deposit & just waiting for it to arrive late Jan/early Feb 2022.

I'm so thankful for everyone who informed me that I could have my sales guy add ZPK to my build.

He did it and sent my new build sheet over.

He said he had no idea he could add that for no charge.

You all are rock stars - Thank you!

I put my order in at a Bay Area dealership in mid-October for an M440ix and I am still waiting for it to move off of their order bank. Very frustrating

Ah, that's too long. It's not like it's an M3. I would call a few other dealers. The rumor is that a price increase is coming for 40i cars built after 1/31/22, so I think it's worth a look around to try to beat that date.

I went from no allocation to production number in a matter of about 2 weeks on a M440CV, which I think is a lower volume car than the coupe. I'm also at a small dealership in Alabama.

I'm new to the ordering process -

There is no issue with jumping over to another dealer for the order right?
