Looking for opinions on options/packages 2022 M340i

Background: I'm an e46 guy, which means less tech the better in my mind. But I'm willing to change and adapt. My father brought home a e46 330i 5 speed when I was in high school. I spent a good amount of time behind the drivers wheel. Fast forward tenish year and I purchased my first Bimmer, a perfect spec e90 335i 6 speed. I drove that for 6 years and racked up 90k miles. Even though the n54 had its issues I never had one problem. I decided it was a ticking time bomb and was prone to financially breaking me so I traded it in. The combo of upcoming maintenance and upkeep coupled with me driving a lot more caused me to look at an f30 328 x drive. I wanted an auto so my wife could drive it if I wanted to take her SUV some days. Well I've never really liked my current ride and have been low key shopping f80s and g20 m340s. The only reason I would choose and f80 over the g20 is for the manual transmission.

I had a local dealer approach me about trading in the f30 and ordering a g20 in its replacement. I specked out an m340 and the offer is strong. I'm not going to go into specifics as that's not what this post is about. I want to know which packages you feel are necessary and which ones to pass on.
Color: Alpine White
Interior: Red fake leather or whatever the call it. I could care less about real or fake. Probably go with one of the aluminum trims. Which one is best? Why no carbon option?
Wheels: cerium 792m with non run flats. I replaced my run flats and it loved the ride. Questions: are the wheels staggered?
Driving assistant package versus Driving assistant professional package. What's the difference? My fist intuition is to skip them both . I currently have some fancy camera setup on my f30 and rarely use it. I like my backup camera though!
Skip the premium package but get heated front seats and steering wheel. My backseat passengers can freeze. Put on a jacket if you're cold.
Harmon Kardon stereo.
Is there an option for the active dampers? Is it standard now?

What else am I missing?

I appreciate all the input good and bad.

Lots to unpack but I will start.

If you go with performance tires it will be staggered. If you go all season tires you get a square setup. This is regardless of run flat vs non run flat.

The drivers pro package includes automated cruise control as well as a lower level of autonomous driving. Sounds like you should skip this package.

I think the premium package is a must just to get HUD but that is just a personal opinion. I wouldn't buy an M340 without it.

HK system I believe is caught up in the chip shortage and not being put onM340 but that could have changed. They do have an adaptive suspension but it is not order able now either due to parts shortages.

Must have options for M340ix

Those who have Adaptive suspension would not do without ! Might still be available for German build ?

Premium package includes HUD, a must have feature.

Basic driving assistance is only around $700 in USA. Worth having, IMO.

If you do any significant amount of night driving, get the BMW Laser headlights which provide far superior headlight performance according to IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety).

Yes, the Style M792 Cerium wheels with performance (non-RFT) summer tires come as a staggered set. Great choice

Thanks for the opinions so far. I'll consider the premium pack for the HUD.

Another question I have is does it come standard with backup cam?

If you're in the US, yes. It's required by law now.

It's worth asking for the ZPK package (Parking assistant package), it's a no charge item but it needs to be asked for in order to get added. It adds the 360° camera system which is really nice.

will agree with people here on the HUD. I was in the same boat as you before I got the car, as I didn't care one way or the other. Just so happened the car I ended up getting had it. It's now a must have going forward. The price difference between the premium package and just the heated seats/wheel makes it a no brainer IMO.

ZPK. I'll ask my CA to add it on. Love freebies! I think I may have this on my f30. Can you tell me a little more about what it does?

It basically allows you to see a 3D model of your car and "fly" around it. It also adds a few other things like self-parking.

I had the top down view in my F30, but this takes it to the next level. If you get a chance, check out the video I've linked.

It's nice ZPK is free this year. Was a separate $700 option on my '21.

According to Genius, parking assistant has not been available on the 2022 M440CV since production started in July. Not sure why they removed it but made it free on some M340. That's a bummer....

If I mad add, you might want to consider remote start and spare tire option for $150.

I constantly use remote start and I will continue to check that box as long a its offered.

Spare tire: This significantly reduces your trunk capacity but for $150 it is a really cheap option. The good thing is, you can take out the whole thing and order a replacement trunk floor from BMW to regain your trunk space. Putting this kit together afterwards costs way more than $150.

I have had some nightmare scenarios in the past and having that spare is a great piece of mind and its something that you can remove very easily.

Thanks for all of the input. To TTG living in ohio I might want the remote start albeit it will be garaged all season so not a deal breaker.

Which aluminum trim is everyone spec-ing?

As an FYI, remote start can be added after the fact through the Connected Drive store.

Sure thing.

I have the open pore gray wood trim and I really like it. Its bullet proof and fits the interior very nicely.

Remote start: Can it be coded with BimmerCode?

That I don't know, as I have not messed with BimmerCode (and it came on my car in the first place).

It's not a ton of money though through ConnectedDrive. I believe it's like $300.

Anyone living in northern states that gets a decent amount of snow can give driving impressions on non xdrive? I daily-ed an e90 335 for awhile including snow and ice driving.

ZPK wasnt available on my M340 when I ordered it back in September. I really wanted the 360 camera because I do a lot of city driving but the dealership told me it was cut from the 3 series unless I ordered the driving assistant pro package, which I didnt.

I noticed that with the online configurator. It will only let you add the parking thing if you have the driving nannies selected. Also you can only select the premium pack if you have the nannies optioned. I want HUD, heated seats and steering wheel without the car forcing me into lanes

You can turn off/customize almost all the driving assistant features as you see fit if it's any help.
