If that were true he wouldn’t have a business and a quality product. Many on here can attest to the product and service he provides. If he had no interest in making money he’d provide **** service and a lackluster product. Honestly sounds like you're a bit salty Brodie. It's fine, many of us have been waiting for a MP tune since the 21 was released. It's been almost a year for me and I'm willing to hold on another couple of months for them to secure their intellectual property. Also, if every company just uses the base platform and sell their tune on it why hasn't anyone else came out and said they can do it? I've annoyed Alex over the year and he always said "Idk how long it'll take it could be months or years, as soon as we have something, we'll post it on the forms" if he was looking for clout and was "honeydicking" us he could have said he had a way months ago. I would do the same if MP was my company. Why would I want invest time and money in a product that other ppl are going to rip off once I release it? Also to your point about tuning an m5 for $999, that's just capitalism baby. Completion keeps prices down and some ppl will spend more to have a name brand tune or "better quality" tune but either way competition keeps prices low. Clearly you know the ecu more than business strategies

Not directly pertinent to the unlock of the new DME, but for the folks with pre-6/2020 builds that are running a Mission Tune I had a question about whether we could install OTA updates now and be able to re-flash the tune over OBD2.

I called Alex and the short answer is: no, for now it'll require a bench unlock. They're looking into solutions.

Congrats mission.

I mean this is good news even if you don't ever plan to go with mission performance as your tuner. The fact that there is now " a way " and it's been done means other companies will follow suite close behind. Problem is if mission spends all this time safegaurding their work. They will royally screw themselves if another company now understands it's possible and cracks it and releases to public far before mission. Plan explodes and lots of money off the table for mission now because they safe kept. This is a risk they are willing to take and like mission said, They can do what they want. We can't get upset because they made a business decision for their business. It is what it is

There was zero mention of MEVD172G dme like the one equipped on my M2 comp. will this be included ?

I hope this hasn’t been asked yet because the last page was filled with a lot of bullshit I couldn’t stand reading through any longer.

My question and I believe a good one… do we get to keep the remote start function for us prior to 6/20 (the ones that weren’t totally locked out with the previous hardware) or is it still lost? Or am I way off and maybe this isn’t even compatible with pre-6/20 vehicles? I’m not a DME/tuning expert so forgive the stupid question.

Last point… I’m in 100% agreement that folks need to stop complaining about voiding their factory warranty. Pay to play is the bottom line. Not sure how many more times that can be said.

He's showing that it's possible to be done and I don't think it's in its final stages for release yet.

Especially where if he's the only one at the moment to actually tune the car, it's actually his intellectual property that's worth money at this point regardless if he releases it or not.

They have the final say of what they would do, regardless if they sell it per tune or have it being bought out by a different company.

You coming in here and just start throwing accusations is bad for the community.

Sad its just a teaser thread with some tough standards for release.

Cant say I understand the whole "if someone else releases we will too" comment but I certainly understand the concerns over proprietary methods and technologies and not wanting them "leaked". In situations like this I use the lock on your home as an analogy. If someone wants what you have in your house bad enough you're not going to stop them. The lock, your guns, your dogs, and your alarm system keep the curious and "good" people out. There is always someone bigger and badder than you and will take what you have if they want. The same is true when it comes to technology.

Only positive thing I can think of, regarding this posting, is that this will "encourage" other devs and shows them, specifically, that it is possible to flash tune the 21MY

Read the original post again. As of right now it doesnt matter if you drove there, had the IOS platform, sent them your DME etc. The tune is not released.
