Just be thankful they didn't go with an all 4-cyl line up a' la Merc.

Anyway, to get so worked up about a screen in a BMW seems a bit ridiculous. If interior aesthetics is the most important thing about buying a car for you, Audi and Mercedes have almost always been better. |

I saw an i4 in person at a BMW event. The screen is different but doesn't look terrible. From the driver view it's a continuous screen that wraps around which is not bad. From the passenger side it does look bolted on which I don't like. I also prefer physical buttons. And I also don't think it's driver focused but more Tesla like instead. I guess that's what sells cars so that's what BMW has to do. There is no question that I prefer the current layout to this new setup.

As I said, it's all about the interior, that's where I am when driving. I know a lot of people (especially americans) care more about the looks and the acceleration but I don't. Back on 5-series since a couple of years. |

I don’t mind the concept of the screen. It’s the natural evolution of digital displays and it should work well with the iController. What I do mind is how it is “attached” to the car instead of built into the car like an add on. One of the things I really like about the G20/22 is how the infotainment screen sits lower and into the dash as opposed to so many cars that have it standing up high on top of the dash like they glued in an iPad.

removing climate control physical buttons is just plain regression. I knew it would happen eventually that they would get so many complaints and would go back. I just replaced my Q5 for an Atlas Cross Sport and although the infotainment system is fine, it is very distracting to use for simple tasks like hanging up the phone or fideling with the nav.

I'm honestly getting close to leaving the brand and it pains me. The new design language - both outside and in - is just awful. I can't handle most of what they have done.

I dont really like the new screens but i dont mind it. not a deal breaker like the nose of the 4 series.
BMW set the bar so low with the grill on the 4 series, I find almost everything is tolerable now |

As far as the new curved screen, I've seen it and it doesn't look bad. But it also doesn't look like a driver focused car. Similar to a Tesla, the interior looks amazing but having bolted on iPads, curved or flat, is not my idea of a driver focused interior. So it's the current M340i or a different brand. Sigh. |

I understand that quite well, but it can also be an obstruction if mounted too high like many info screens currently are. My G22 layout is at the perfect elevation and using the steering wheel buttons I don’t even look at the info side that frequently while driving. The current G20/G22 cabin and display layout are the major reasons I bought the car. That’s where I spend my driving time.

Same motors, their TÜ2's. Not clear about power though: like I mention in the top post, I don't see the B58O2 motor anywhere yet, so it's possible M340i/M440i will get B58M2, which makes 370hp in the X7 application. And I don't have any data about the next B48 at all.

The G20/G21 will not get the new dashboard from the i4.
It wouldn't make sense since the all new 4-series GC have the same as the 3-series and not the one from i4. If they where going all in for the new i4 dash why would they fit the old one in the new 4-series GC? |
