Stuck in Quality Check - Status 155

Our M340ix - German Build - week 43 has been stuck in Quality Check for over a week. I know there are others in the same situation. Does anyone know what's going on?

The screenshot above is all I have from our dealer. The Sales Manager has been unavailable recently. I'm hoping he might have more information. Has anyone else gotten any info?

My dealer believes that the port congestion at Bremerhaven is the reason why cars are being held back at the German factories. At least our cars seem to have been built with Touch Screens !

I hope that happens to all of ours that are still waiting! But you guys are right, at least it’s built and has a touch screen!

I’m a week 43 330e build and have been stuck on Quality check since Nov 5th. Please update if there is any movement, and I’ll do the same.

There's a video on youtube showing the manufacturing process and in it a part where they place the assembled and painted but otherwise empty chassis on storage shelf. That's what I was imagining mine was looking like while it was in QC for a couple of days. I'm guessing that they have to shuffle around the scheduling of production stages especially now with supply hiccups. Even if they have everything for a particular car they might need to put it aside to prioritize ones that have been waiting longer for parts that arrived since. I highly doubt the car is in QC for that long or that it did fail and needs rework. I'm guessing it's on hold but BMW doesn't go into that much detail on the website. Mine spent the most time in "Final Assembly" then in "Ready for Transport" due to the RAM stop sale, but after that everything went very quickly. The duration of neither of those steps made any sense from the outside. For others it was different timing but my impression was reading the forums that they are somewhat consistent on how long the overall process takes for cars ordered around the same time.
I got mine eventually. Ya'll get there too.

I have posted separately about delays with my M440i delivery. I was advised that it had been shipped on October 13. Last Friday I received an email from the dealer stating as follows:

"However, it seems the car is still at Germany Port. My system showed it was on boat with expected delivery in November at one point and then reverted back to German Port. BMW gave us an update while I was away and it seems your car as well as several others are stuck at the port waiting for a recall to be performed. It seems there was a supplier issue with a batch of modules and they are waiting for the part to be corrected before it ships from Germany. They did not provide us with an ETA on this retrofit."

I wonder if this "supplier issue" is affecting other models as well. Maybe they include the same modules.

The first M340ix that I ordered, and was built in early September, ended up staying in Bremerhaven for six weeks ! No explanation from BMW Canada for this delay ! After switching to a later production car from Week 43, this completed car has now been stuck in Munich since November 4th.

M440i Convertible Quality Check

I’m a week 45 build and the car was built last week. I have been on Quality check all week. Sounds like more Quality check time to come for me.

So, I just stopped at my dealership today, I was told more then likely the vehicles are complete just waiting transport. She said the system probably isn't updating because of the Germany Port back log. The German Port where are cars are being loaded onto are back logged with over 100 ships waiting to unload and reload with our beautiful cars.

I was told something pretty similar to this from my SA. Although mine is officially stuck on QC for 22 days now, I'm not too worried and know that my car is moving along somewhere.

22 days?! I really hope your next update is that it's on a ship that's almost to port on the east coast! Please keep us updated. It's the only thing keeping me sane.

I did some digging and found a site that lists the incoming/outgoing/in-port/expected traffic for Bremerhaven and saw that 6 out of the 20 ships it listed as currently "In Port" are "Vehicle Carriers". Not exactly sure what that means but for reference, only 1 of the last 20 departures was a vehicle carrier and 1 of the last 20 arrivals was vehicle carrier so 6 out of 20 sounds like things should be moving soon, hopefully.

There are also 6 more vehicle carriers expected to arrive at Bremerhaven Port in the next 7 days. Link attached below.

This is encouraging news ! If each of the 12 RoRo ships loaded 5,000 vehicles, that's 60,000 cars exported from Bremerhaven, about 2/3rds of the port's capacity. Surely, this will unplug the logjam in this port !!!

Update: car is currently at the port and delivery ETA is end of December to Southern California!

Hoping you all get some reassuring and great news as well.
