Run On Flat. Or as we usually mention here in these forums - run flats.

Michelin designates them ZP - Zero Pressure.

Tried all that and it doesn't list anything when I get to this page, with a G21 M340i Touring (or anything else) selected.

Doesn't open summer, winter, etc.

That doesn't work for me either. I see the configurator page okay, enter and select a model, then it stalls at the page level I've shown a few posts back. No different if I login to my account.

I'm seeing the same page on my laptop, iPad or IPhone, but no way can I get to the listed accessories for a specific model.

After a fashion I managed to click through to the wheel and tyre combinations and can now see there are indeed tyres listed for the M340i that are not star marked. Therefore, if BMW attempted to be pedantic about the lack of a star marking affecting warranty claims on X-Drive I think they'd be on very thin ice.....

As I've said throughout, that is exactly my thinking too. So long as you don't do anything silly..... I did question whether it was OK to mix Cross Climate 2 on the fronts with Pluses on the rear, and decided that might not be the best course of action, hence why CC+ all round.

Configurator is working this evening...

Something is not adding up. I'm wondering if the tyre shortage during the pandemic is influencing what is offered at present.

Note the comments in the small print, such as:

"All the tyres have been specially developed for BMW models and have the BMW star marking".

"The actual compatibility of the wheels with your BMW might vary. Please contact your BMW retailer for confirmation".

Has anyone tested whether you can actually get these non approved tyres in the UK?

I asked my 2 closest dealers (phone call + follow up email) and BMW Customer Service about non-summer tyres, and not one of them bothered to reply (this was before someone pointed out the configurator).

Maybe I should print out those emails just in case I ever need them.

Well, after following this topic and having some input I can safely say I am more confused than when I started.

My brain currently has too many tabs open!

You may have a point! When I look at a couple of the 19" wheel options the Pirelli Zero run-flat is listed as one of the tyre options but it doesn't show as being star marked; however, I have those tyres on my car and they definitely are star marked....

I also noticed BMW are listing 'Nordic' winter snow/ice tyres on the UK configurator. I doubt we'd get them as a serious option on any model in the UK. I do sense the listed options may be more cobbled together than totally reliable.

Reminds me of when I wanted winter tyres for my E91. BMW CS UK put me onto the Technical Department, and they forwarded me a list of approved tyres from BMW Germany. Also told me BMW UK didn't support winter tyres, (at that time), I'd be on my own. One of the tyres was a Bridgestone Blizzak, so I phoned Bridgestone to see if they supplied and supported them in the UK. No, I'd have to import them myself from Germany.

I often sense BMW is slow to get with the current trends. Like a high performance All Season tyre, like they use in the US market. An example being the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06.

I put winters on my E61, and didn't even think about star marked. They were Yokohama W.Drive V901 (IIRC). Never had any issues. And as I used to get a puncture a month, I decided to go for a good valued tyre. Kumho KU39 which did a job. Did 130k miles without issue.
