330i 1st Gear No Boost

Hello,

I have a 2021 330i, and I noticed that sometimes when I put my foot down in 1st gear, there's barely any power, and it really start to pull when it shifts to 2nd. Other times, 1st gear is very punchy and pulls very hard. Is this normal?

Yes, it annoyed the heck out of me but it's normal for these cars. Thankfully a tune fixed the issue for me.

it was on cold engine? This happened to me twice, and in both cases i was on manual (M1) and engine was cold (and in the same turnaround). I think is a sort of self-protect engine measure (a dangerous one).
Never happened in D.

I think the rpm matters, e.g. 1st@500rpm vs. 1st @2000rpm react differently when pedal to metal.

Yes it never happens in D, but it was on a warm engine for me. Only when I was in M1. Wondering if I should take it to the dealer

Often happens with me, find it almost impossible to drive smoothly sometimes. Got order in to switch back to 6 cylinder because of it.

do a call to the dealer and tell them the issue.
stay alert for the problem to ocurr, trying to find a way to reproduce. If dealer cant reproduce it, cant fix it.
I've pass a ista-d diagnostic just after last ocurrence of the issue with no error.

Ok so this issue is getting more persistent now. I noticed that when my 1st gear is weak, using Launch Control fixes it and I get more boost in 1st gear. I don't understand what is happening

Definitely sounds like their is something wrong - my 330i is pretty instantaneous in comfort mode, instantaneous n sport mode and sluggish from standstill in eco pro.

Yes it does, that's relieving. Thank you. That's really weird, why does it do that?

not sure to be honest, but I had the same thing once I swapped to
downsized winter tires

normal tires at 19s but I have downsized 18s for winter

even though it's not actually slipping, sometimes the dsc keeps cutting in, idk if it's the super sensitive wheel sensors or something with the xdrive differential

but it greatly limits power when it shouldn't

maybe someone else can chime in more on why

problem never appears in summer
