Dipped beams causing dazzle /glare?

Hi as we're well into winter driving ,after getting 2021model car late summer I am frequently getting flashed by on coming traffic when in dipped beam . Maybe this a common issue with modern cars with increasingly stronger lights? But have others found this issue and what options for adjustment are available... I dont have laser lights so just standard lights.

Thanks

Found mine were too far dipped. Raised them a lot, and even though I wasn't being flashed, I knew they were too high. Sign posts on the motorway were far too illuminated. Think I'm about right now, if still a wee bit too high. Doesn't light up on coming cars though, nor the one in front.

Get an allen key out (and try not to drop it, which I did numerous times but got a magnet to fish it out). Clockwise drops them.

It's easy to do yourself tbh. Just find a level that people don't flash you and you can still see the road.

I presume lights aren't set for driving on the right

I love how the visibility pack does this. I was following someone the other day and the road was lit up all around them but you could see on the road around them they they were driving in an unlit box. Same for oncoming traffic. You can use full beam on a really busy road without blinding anyone. Magic!

I think it’s friendlier to other traffic than normal dipped.

Hard agree. I've only had a couple times where foliage slightly obscures say a lorry's lights but obviously the cabin is above and getting the full force of the LLs but other than that I've found it incredibly smooth with HBA and the way it tracks is just great.

Is this the HBA add on you refer to or something only part of visibility pack, reason is i was considering adding the HBA upgrade as available to download for car I think for 160 or so?

I'm pretty sure the £160 add-on doesn't give you dancing headlight, it just auto-switches between dipped and main beam.

Yes just switches between main and dipped, the dancing lights are only part of laser lights

I'm the same. I have an early 2020 build. Standard lights and I also keep getting flashed by oncoming cars. I had thought that maybe the dipped lights are very bright.

Lets us know if you get yours adjusted and what the outcome is.

Cheers.

As Charlie said at the start, just turn the adjust half-a-turn if you're getting flashed - job jobbed.

Update to this is I went to local non BMW garage and got lights checked - Mechanic showed me that the lights were height level Ok but were directed too much to right [i.e on coming traffic!] This was not because of Idrive setting as this is in default LH drive setting and actually checked this with him by changing setting to RH drive and could see movement again.

So it appears my 'new' car had light settings incorrect. Mechanic corrected lights .
