Random shot, wintry driving conditions and -10C. New sports exhaust installed (Bastuck, OEM exhaust tips).

- technically the exhaust system is well built and fits the car perfectly - I opted to retain the OEM look and exhaust tips, therefore the exhaust tip (1x Ø63mm) is smaller than in the other silencers (2x Ø90mm)..so sound may be less aggressive - Bastuck rear silencers have two flaps, it took a bit more time and effort to install and tuck away the wire that connects the two flaps (between car body and heat shields i.e away from the hot exhaust) - the exhaust note is sporty, but not aggressive. OPF/PPF particulate filter is still in place, which kills some of the sound even if you deleted the rear muffler. - In standard exhaust (OEM) right exhaust is closed during normal driving (Comfort) but in Bastuck right sides remain open all the time regardless the drive mode (I hated the original twin tips but only one is use philosophy, now both sides are open) - This already creates a deeper exhaust note, which is noticeable but not too loud and agressive - In sports mode the two flaps open at around 3000 rpm. The difference is not as noticeable as would expect. It's subtle and adds a nice tone, but it's not as loud as you might first think. - Cold start is loud Overall, I'm very happy. I wanted to have a deeper tone and growl, no aggressive bangs and pops. Still a gentleman's car, looks OEM (I don't like quad exhaust tips). Sound difference is obvious, but for some it might be too subtle and "mild". If you want loud exhaust, think changing down pipe and removing OPF/PPF. Last edited by THE3; 02-11-2021 at 12:59 AM.. |

Oh man. I totally feel you. I'm in the same boat. I wash my car as soon as it gets sorry but this winter, I've given up. Mine looks like yours now.

This exhaust is not so expensive compared to other brands like Milltek, Akrapovic... so it's good to know that the quality is there. Nonetheless, giving the fact I want something homologated, I hesitate to buy something as I think the difference will be not so high with the stock exhaust. And I don't like when the sound is aggressive. I drive my car as a GT car, not a sport car... |
