If so that worries me a lot.
There hasn't on the G20/80, but with the new 2s being produced in Mexico, even the Ms, it looks like it will be gone for that chassis. I think at some point BMW will dominate it altogether, unfortunately.

I had heard about the 3-series being produced in Mexico but didn't know the Ms were potentially on the table.

I’ll also add lame rear brakes making it hard to swap pads back and forth for track duty.

Oh well all that matters is how it will drive, we’ll see...

Agree with you on the cons but even being biased towards M3/4's - they are not the "best daily four door vehicle... So many cars I would put ahead of a M3/M4... Just my opinion...

Not sure what you mean here. My wife's 2018 F80 has full leather and the optional rear sunshade with manual side shades.
Right - they come together - point is that they can't be separated if u want only one or the other.

I'm absolutely waiting for it to replace my beloved M140i.

Lighter, powerful, direct and faster than the previous with AWD and RWD on demand..... it' the right choice for me. It'll be awesome!

You can call whatever you want. I've weighed my E92 ZCP and F80 CS, totally stock and with full tanks. 3600 vs 3640lb.

I'm not interested in people's bullshit weights where they measure 'with less than 1/4 of a tank' after removing rugs, manuals, inflation kit, etc.

You could order full leather without getting the rear and side sunshades because that was still a separate option at extra cost. So I'm guessing that what you mean is that you couldn't get the rear sunshade without getting full leather.

But you're basing that solely upon your particular cars as your cars happen to be configured. It is commonly known that the F8x chassis overall is lighter than the E9x chassis - so as a global proposition one cannot take their own particular cars and extrapolate that out as representative of the comparative weights of the cars as a whole.

Correct.

AlterZgo AWD and Manual on the G80 will be available but not together.

I agree with others, I'll believe it's lighter when I see it on the scales, not on a manufacturer spec sheet.

To that end.. how many versions ??

M3 pure
M3 pure competition ?

M3/4
M3/4 competition ?

OR.. manufacturer weights with luggage but also with 75kg driver , or weights based on average dealer content.

The timing and features of this new generation is shaping up perfectly. Usually I’m anxious that BMW will mess up the areas I care about as steering and chassis feedback, suspension stiffness and predictable feel, etc. This time is different since it’s my wife’s turn to drive the sporty ride. I’m taking a break and will do SUV duty. She wants a traditional AT and AWD which first put the M5 as top contender but it is both bigger than she wants and faster than she will likely take advantage of. And now voila, just in time an M3/4 with auto and AWD, sometimes Lady Luck is smiling on you

Ok. The complex weight discussion again...

Let's say it like this:
An F8x manual with CCBs compared with a comparably equipped E9x M3 was lighter (some kilos) not breathtaking, but if you take into account the much stiffer chassis and slightly grown dimensions, it for sure was an achievement.

F8x Competition models with DCT as measured from german sport auto magazin had roughly the same weight as the E92 DCT ZCP.

Now regarding the CLAR platform:
The new F90 M5 has profitted very much from the switch from old 5 series (F10) to new CLAR G30 platform! F10 was a heavy pig.
So it is remarkable, that F90 M5 with AWD is even some kilos lighter than F10M5 RWD!

For G80 there is - unfortunately - no such hope.
1st: The F30 and therefore also the F8x hadn't this severe weight problem of the F10! So they were - also compared to the competition - quite light!
2nd: The G20 already reveals this! Although switching to the CLAR platform it isn't any lighter than F30 ... rather the opposite!

So - imho - a G8x RWD will have roughly the same weight than a F8x ... and the G8x AWD will be around 50 kilos heavier...

Lets see, how it turns out.
