No option to reset brake pad warning via diagnostic mode

Replaced rear brake pads and sensors a week ago

My brake light just went on and it says that brake pads need to be replaced. And to take to a service center

How do I reset my brake light?

I tried diagnostic mode. But there is no option for the brake pad reset.

Any help would be appreciated

I’ve always used BimmerLink to reset service warnings.

Did you end up getting this issue fixed? I'm having the same issue. I just had my brakes ( front and back) and both sensors replaced and the brake reset is not showing up at all in the menu. (2022 G20) Thanks

Hi, I’m also having this issue. Were you able to find a solution?

Thanks!

Could not find a solution . I ended up purchasing a scan tool off Amazon, which worked great to clear it. Scan tool is obviously more expensive than the trip to the dealer to reset it, so I am banking on using the tool in the future for other service/repairs.

...Well obviously I tried the reset procedure. That seems like such a silly thing to post if you read the OP. The issue is that the option to reset does not appear in the diagnostic menu.

You would be surprised how many people cannot follow basic instructions. Good luck to you, sir.

Anyway, here's the reset procedure, directly from a BMW shop manual (see attachment). It states you can only reset if the brake pad sensor has been tripped.

In my experiences with this car, there is an initial "warning", stating you have X miles to replace the pads. This will count down to zero. Eventually the pad sensor will be tripped, and it will tell you to go to a service center now and replace them. When I have got to this point, I have always been able to reset using diagnostic mode after replacing the pads and sensor (no scan tool needed). I have never replaced the pads and attempted to reset before tripping the sensor, but I am guessing it's not possible to do so, given BMW's statement. If the pad sensor has been tripped, and reset isn't possible, then I guess you need a scan tool; there isn't some other hidden way.

Were you able to reset the brake? Mine doesn't show any more. It used to show because I done this before. I tried with a OBD scanner and no luck.
