I did partial PPF on mine (full front-end incl. wings, side sills, a section just behind rear wheels, and boot loading lip). I went for XPEL which is pretty much the best you can get. It included XPEL's dedicated PPF ceramic coating (which is crap and doesn't compare to the properties of a regular clearcoat ceramic coating). It was about £1800 for installing and coating the PPF, not including any other prep and coating the rest of the car. From memory it would've been about £4k to PPF the full car (touring).
It's been about 6 months and it's been holding quite well, looks as it did on day 1. It was the first time I went for PPF and I was quite doubtful about it for two main reasons - cost and being paranoid about visible differences between PPF-ed and non-PPF-ed areas as well as visible edges, etc. Overall, really happy with it and I would go for it again. On cost, it's obviously subjective, but I now feel a front-end at least is worth it. I don't accept the respray cost argument though. One of the main reasons you go for PPF is to avoid stuff like that in the first place, paint-matching , etc. Install quality was also spot on, and the quality of the film itself makes it virtually invisible. That will obviously depend on the chosen film and installer. I use a ceramic topper on maintenance washes to get uniform beading properties on the entire car.

I done also bumper Xpel on F30 but I was not happy as the installer used the template which did not cover properly some areas, I watched some YouTube installers and what some do is they adjust template before printing by adding extra mm to cover area better. What colour is your car? |

The quality of the installer definitely plays a big role. I think the default templates are also getting a lot more accurate, but yes, the installers with more knowledge and experience do go the extra mile by adjusting the templates. I think they had to do it on mine to get rid of the cut-out for the M badges on the wings as I had them removed. That's why XPEL has that accreditation programme they get access to the entire database and software to do it. Some cars will also have certain curves that are more difficult to wrap around than others and so on. This is particularly the case for front bumpers You need multiple pieces, "relief cuts", etc. The standard XPEL template for the G20/G21 bumper also has multiple pieces but the joint lines are not really visible on mine unless you literally go a few inches away and look for it. And there are definitely no gaps. It's Dravit Grey, pearlescent paint, changes a lot depending on light. Getting a good match on it isn't going to be easy if it ever comes to it.
