G21 M340d - 795M Alloys
Hello....
I have recently purchased a new M340d Touring, and would like to fit the 795M 20” alloys, however BMW say they are not suitable for the G21 but can’t tell me why exactly. Has anyone fitted these alloys to a touring? If so, was there any issues? Cheers Charlie |

Thank you for the reply.
Interesting, I’m guessing it’s to do with tyre load - being 92Y on the 20” and 94Y on the 19”. I read elsewhere someone had issues with the tpms and the car not recognising the 20” size? It’s a lot to shell out, for them to arrive and I have issues. Yours looks stunning with them, I think they complete the car! |

Hi mate I have them fitted to my G21 (with spacers) - if you look at one of the recent threads "new members M Perf M340i...." you can see some shots of the matte black version. I bought mine from BMW, no issues with fitment or TPMS whatsoever. In addition, BMW wouldn't have issues with them being fitted to the car insofar as the warranty on your car is concerned. The issue is that you won't have warranty on the wheels themselves. The same issue I had with the M Performance front splitter due to homologation issues on the G21 I.e. they haven't officially tested it but it's absolutely fine. If it wasn't fine BMW wouldn't have fitted the entire M Performance kit for me including the wheels! For me personally I was OK with the warranty issue on the parts since I got them for an unbelievable price. Joe

Hi Joe,
I was also told they "could" dismiss a drivetrain warranty claim - this was of 3 different BMW dealers, you'd think they'd be more than happy to sell you a set of wheels/tyres costing a few thousand. My main concern off the back of this from BMW is in the unfortunate event of an accident, would the insurance company have anything to say if they ever knew about this homologation issue (despite being made aware they were fitted/added to policy, because I'm sure if I told them when adding them to the policy that BMW didn't approve any 20" rims they wouldn't insure them). I wonder if we have any insurance experts on here to make comment.... |

You make a very good point - I'd "like" to think that it wouldn't be an issue as they are still an official BMW part that fits the vehicle, and the wheels are advertised for the G21 a number of BMW dealerships, for e.g. BMW Berry lists the 795M wheels as part of their accessory packs for the touring. I think insurance companies would be on shaky ground if they tried to reject a claim when they are clearly advertised in a number of places for the G21. Maybe I'm just too optimistic!

I really want these wheels for my G21 but I have been told the same thing by the technical team, they aren't suitable for the G21 models due to extra weight and no dealers should be supplying them for the G21.
I usually wouldn't give a monkeys about things like this but if I am loaded up with roof box and the boot is rammed for a getaway and something happens, I don't want BMW shying away from any responsibility. |

Have you thought any more about it? How would it be any different to buying some ‘reps’ from CM wheels and fitting them to the car? are they homologated for any car you can fit them to? |
