December M340 Port of Baltimore arrivals
Hoping to see mine arrive at the Port of Baltimore sometime in December. Wondering if anyone else has the expectation?

I’d say it was very worth it, but it is a bit awkward on early mornings. The 340 loudly announces my departure when I’m starting it up and there is no way to do a quiet start. My girlfriend shakes her head everytime we start it up to go on a trip, but she clearly likes the car too. Thankfully one of my neighbors has an over-the-top aftermarket and muffler delete on their 350Z so mine is tame by comparison. |

I would say the startup noise has more to do with the exhaust configuration on start up. I think your best, and possibly worst, option (if you care to go that far) would be to lock the exhuast valve in position. Some 340 drivers disconnect the exhaust valve cable before it has warmed up to lock the exhaust valve closed. When it’s locked in the closed position it is supposed to make the exhaust louder in general. It would make sense if it is locked open that the exhaust would be quieter. Not sure if there are any implications for start up, performance, and warranty etc. You simply have to start your M340, wait for it it warm up, then disconnect the cable. There are videos online show how to do it if you decide to go that far. Hopefully someone with more knowledge and hands-on experience can chime in. |

I do not mind loud startup, will compete with Mustang GT350 of my front neighbor. His mustang is very loud for about a minute or so on cold startup.

Port of Baltimore arrival
Happy for you. I also hope I get on the ship as well. Genius agent this morning no help still status 160 and dealer says the same. Both said Genius is always missing steps. Being as we are both build week 44 I would think it would be on the same ship.i will follow your updates.

Capricornus Leader arriving a day early at Lazaro Cardenas tomorrow morning. So potentially could arrive Hueneme on 12/9. Let's hope our cars get on there!

Looks like the global leader has been pushed back a few days for those awaiting a boat for the east coast.

My M340i xdrive started production on the 28th. I noticed from this thread that some people have their build completed in just a few days after starting production. I’m hoping that mine will get finished and transferred onto that ship departing on the 9th 😁 *fingers crossed*

My wife’s car completed production on 11/26 and it is still waiting to be transported to the port. Hoping that Genius info is delayed by a few days if not it looks like it will depart in the next ship for a January delivery.

I’ve got a M240i rather than a M340i but just adding a datapoint here since this thread is more active than the 2 series order timeline thread.
My car completed production on 11/20 and has been sitting at final assembly in the app since. Automated genius call line says release for transport. Hoping to get on Global Leader to Baltimore with you all as well. Last edited by jacdlewi; 12-04-2024 at 11:26 PM.. |

I think everyone sits at Ready For Transport until it's on the ship. That's been my observation on the forums. If you check frequently after thd ship departs you might see it go to "At the port" briefly before "In Transport" but most of us will likely miss it. BMW isnt very good about updating the app status or the automated phone service. I've been RFT since 11/8 and the automated line says "Awaiting transport to the exit port" but a genius agent told me back on 11/15 that my car had been sent to the port.

I found the best source of truth is the automated Genius phone system. It was always a day or two ahead of the web site. The day after my ship left with the car the phone system updated. The website took another day to update.
