December M340 Port of Baltimore arrivals

Hoping to see mine arrive at the Port of Baltimore sometime in December. Wondering if anyone else has the expectation?

Beautiful! I always get gray with my cars. This time I went with blue for a change. BMW has some great blues though. I love that gray too. Did you get any port installed options?

I got the MPE. It didn’t add anytime to delivery since it had to get processed in anyway. The longest bit seemed to be getting transport for the final mile.

I’d say it was very worth it, but it is a bit awkward on early mornings. The 340 loudly announces my departure when I’m starting it up and there is no way to do a quiet start. My girlfriend shakes her head everytime we start it up to go on a trip, but she clearly likes the car too. Thankfully one of my neighbors has an over-the-top aftermarket and muffler delete on their 350Z so mine is tame by comparison.

Yeah I ordered the MPE as well. I leave early for work so I'm a tad concerned about the cold start. I've heard that if you shift into gear right away or press the gas pedal that helps? At least I'm starting inside a garage with exhaust pointing away from neighbors.

I’m struggling to see how gassing it or switching modes would help. I would assume if it actually is loud enough for your neighbors to hear and you gas it, then that it would warm up faster but also get you certified a**hole status since it would seem like you are doing it on purpose. I noticed the car is very quiet when tooling around town in Eco or Comfort Pro, but I don’t think that the different modes are going to help much with the starting roar. Thankfully it is only loud for maybe 10 seconds, then quiets down quickly. I’ll test it out this week and get back to you.

I would say the startup noise has more to do with the exhaust configuration on start up. I think your best, and possibly worst, option (if you care to go that far) would be to lock the exhuast valve in position. Some 340 drivers disconnect the exhaust valve cable before it has warmed up to lock the exhaust valve closed. When it’s locked in the closed position it is supposed to make the exhaust louder in general. It would make sense if it is locked open that the exhaust would be quieter. Not sure if there are any implications for start up, performance, and warranty etc. You simply have to start your M340, wait for it it warm up, then disconnect the cable. There are videos online show how to do it if you decide to go that far. Hopefully someone with more knowledge and hands-on experience can chime in.

I've had a Camaro SS and a C8 Vette, both with valve actuated perf. exhaust. I found that they were loud on cold start regardless of mode, but if that if I immedietely shifted into gear after starting, it would kick down the rpm and thus quiet the noise. I did this alot in the camaro since it was a daily driver. Not sure if the same principal applies to the BMW though.

I do not mind loud startup, will compete with Mustang GT350 of my front neighbor. His mustang is very loud for about a minute or so on cold startup.

Capricornus Leader arriving a day early at Lazaro Cardenas tomorrow morning. So potentially could arrive Hueneme on 12/9. Let's hope our cars get on there!

Congrats! This next stretch is the hardest. Waiting on a ship. Looks like you'll be going to the east coast. I know there are a few people here expecting a ship in the next few days. If you don't make that it might be roughly 3 weeks depending on vessel schedules. I just missed the last west coast ship and hoping to get on the next one tomorrow.

Thanks! My dealer said there's a chance of it arriving at the end of this month but I doubt it. I'm hoping it will be delivered by mid January.

Looks like the global leader has been pushed back a few days for those awaiting a boat for the east coast.
