Several others have reported the same problem-- fortunately, I didn't (go figure!). There were a couple of oddities (like Auto headlights kept headlights on in day, rather than DRL), but they went away after a day or two.

Anyway, try resetting the iDrive (by pushing in the radio volume button for about 70 seconds-- iDrive will reboot). If that doesn't do it, then log out out of your BMW Connected Drive account & log back in. That seemed to work for all

Thanks for the answer. As you mentioned, all apps appeared back after couple of days. I am not sure if the car was downloading all apps from the cloud. Now I have all apps including Spotify and Android Auto.

Update 07/2020.54 OTA just dropped in Germany.
Should be available internationally very soon.

Right now it looks like it is only available for some cars in Germany so we might be looking at a staged rollout.

Release notes were in German:
- BMW Cloud Navigation “BMW Maps”
- Improofed personal Assistant “Hey BMW”: faster, more responsive, better understanding, new design
- Android Auto
- Option to enable rear Daytime running lights
- news Settings for trunk smart opening (foot wave under car): can be used to open or close the trunk or both.
- General Software improvements and fixes for existing functions
- CarPlay and Android Auto Navigation arrows displayed on HUD and speedometer

I'm starting to become very frustrated! I am still stuck on 11.2019. With no new OTA updates available. How is this possible that I still have not received 03.2020?

Question is... to be able to get 07.2020 will I first have to wait for my car to receive 03.2020? Or can I upgrade to 07.2020 with no issues when it eventually releases.

It really defeats the purpose of OTA updates at all. If it takes me a year to receive an OTA update that's already out of date..... I'd much prefer just bringing my car to the dealership every 6 months for an update. And not having to lie to the dealership as to why I want the update.....

03/2020 was never released OTA as far as I know. Since BMW already started shipping 07/2020, it's most likely all users will get updated directly to the 07/2020.

BMW obviously knows what firmware release your car runs. They may decided 07/2019.55 won't get OTA update to the 07/2019.70 as there potentially were no important differences between the two.

Well, my car was on 07/2019. I took it in for service and told them there were some issues with the iDrive. Car was updated to 07/2020.45. Not only does the car now have Android Auto (a feature from 07/2020), but also Drive Recorder (from 03/2020).

So I finally decided to take the car in to the dealership to see if I could get them to update the iDrive software. My SA came out I gave the typical story that the screen was randomly restarting, etc. He looked me straight in the face laughed and said, "That's very typical, it happens in all the models. Don't worry about it!"

I think he could tell by my face I wasn't very happy with that answer. So he then asked if they could keep the car overnight to "assess the issue".

I happily said no thank you. Got in my car and drove away, never to return to that dealership again!

So my car (2020, prod. date 10/19) got an OTA update which I believe was 07/2020... I only saw it briefly when tapping through to start the update. I can't check for updates or see the version now. It just says 'update completed' and 'functions supported online will be available again starting next trip.'

The option for enabling taillights with front DRLs was there and working. Then I got in the car later today and it was gone. Reset iDrive, factory reset, switched driver profiles, signed in and out of Connected Drive. No dice. I also noticed some parking app pop up then disappear later. No Android Auto, though. Any ideas? Take it to a dealer?

if it was the tailight DRL update, that's not 07/2020. it's 11/2019. I just got that pushed to me today. I'm currently on 07/2019. So there's no android auto.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I made a service appointment as the update failed and is stuck regardless (and it needs a wash).

Not sure if AA will work right away with my phone (LG G8). I think I need Android 11 first, which should be early next year...

Hello,
Just got back from the dealer. Got the new update - 07/2020.60
So far seems to work well.
A few things I’ve noticed:
1. Tachometer in HUD no longer shows
2. CarPlay is not showing any directions with Waze? Not sure if Waze is supported?

After my car received update 07/2020.45, the tach in HUD does not appear when I click on Sport only, BUT does so when in all modes (something like that)

You may want to try that

According to the Android Police article BMW is finally rolling out the Android Auto update over the air we should start seeing OTA updates to the 07/2020 this Monday (19.10.2020).

I know some single BMW owners already got 07/2020 OTA but hopefully this speed up now.
