Alexa is enabled in My BMW app. All the correct setting are checked in the personal assistant menu. Deleted and repaired phone many times. One odd thing which i think may be causing the issue but i have no solution for- in the MY bmw app, under device connections, apps and wifi show connected but bluetooth audio shows not connected. Doesnt make sense though bc i paired the phone via bluetooth and carplay/music plays.

When I go to the BMW software update site and type my car VIN number, I get a response "No Update is Necessary. The software of your BMW will be updated automatically". When I checked this with the dealer they said the car has no OTA capability so not sure why I was getting this message on the BMW site. Any explnations?

Quick question about the software updates- are they capable of altering steering schematics? This could be totally in my head but after the latest software update, the steering in my wife's 4 series feels a tad bit better. It's still dull and lifeless but feels smoother, more natural & linear. (a little less prone to the sloppy nature that ive been used to) (could also coincide with the NC heatwave pushing front PSI pressures higher than usual)

Finally got the software updated. The service advisor was extremely helpful and got my idrive software updated without any issues (unlike the dealer I visited before who said I have to live with not being able to update it). Running 07.2021.20 now. Upgraded from 07.2019.38. What I wanted most was android auto and I'm glad I have it. I obviously lost all my coding but I'm not too worried. I can also see all the latest apps (uneven road etc). My HUD also shows the shift light in all modes and not just in sport mode.

I have finally made progress regarding my two ongoing complaints… firstly that BMW applied a software update (03/2021.50) without informing owners that it would significantly affect the sound of the car’s exhaust and engine sound. My main point has been that automotive legislation is not normally enacted retrospectively but, to date, I still haven’t had a satisfactory explanation from BMW as to why it was in this case.
I also ordered (and paid for) in January 2021 some “Union Flag” number plates for my M340i to replace its current plates that do no have a nationality identifier. Amazingly, I still do not have the plates as North Oxford have come up with excuse after excuse basically hinting that BMW U.K. hadn’t released so-called templates yet. It’s gone on so long that I’ve told them I now want “UK” rather than “GB” plates as the U.K. is changing its nationality identifier from October 2021. I have continually warned BMW U.K. that I am copying all my complaint correspondence onto various social media platforms including owner forums but it’s customer service staff don’t seem overly concerned! |

I have a very early 2020 M340i with a very aggressive factory exhaust tone (tons of pops and burbles).
Is there a legitimate concern that updating to 3/2021.50 will make the exhaust quieter? |

TikiTourer ,
While Alexa works on my Android phone very well, understand it's not even that they work together, they are not even co-existing -- has something to do with WiFi??

Their explanation would suggest OTA won't impact the exhaust - and I don't think people have been clear on here on HOW any problematic updates have been applied, so to allow for any trends to be spotted to prove/disprove the explanation I was given. |

What are you at now? Currently my 20 m340i is still on 11/2019.50. I have a shitload of pops, burbles, backfires and all that awesomeness! The moment I update it's all gone. Period. Don't do it brother. You will regret it.

I specifically asked my dealer to update all the software in my car due to some weird fuel tank noises.
They updated it to the latest i step for the modules and the newest i drove software being 07/2021.47. |

My guess is you've been updated since you originally bought the car in 2019. Another guess is your exhaust note will be nothing like mine on earlier software. Mine is absolutely obnoxious! Just the way I like it. |
