Same here '19 330i on 3/2021. I've been telling my car to check like once a week since BMW made the announcement in October. It's due for service soon (~1k miles) so I'll get the dealer to do it if I haven't received it by then.

Haha looks like our cars have the same temperament. My situation was the exact same as you.

Mine went in for a service yesterday and they updated it to 11/2021.

No major updates other than Apple Play looks slightly different.

I have had mine for 14 months and it has never updated. The only one I have ever had was at the dealer - that was for 03-2021. I honestly don’t think the OTA thing works in my car

My car was stuck in the same version as well for some reason. I received the latest 11/2021 update when the car requested a dealer visit due to a recall regarding some control unit firmware update. Pretty much the only noticiable change was for the driving assistant which started driving in a straight line instead of making small adjustments all the time. Also the M Lap Timer showed up under the Apps menu which is the most important feature in a 330e

I had my first oil change in November and I was stuck on 07.2020/54 also. Asked for an update and was told they don't do that. They did find a fault in the head unit and reset that and updated the software (some obscure recall which was likely made up). Since then I have received map updates and application updates. Might check for a fault using something like Bimmerlink? I think that is what was stopping my car from updating.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me on a 2019 g20 (330i, built 06/2019) whose remote software upgrade doesn't seem to work. I purchased the car in March 2021 and had the dealer upgrade iDrive from v6 to v7 at that time because I wanted Android Auto, which put it on 03/2021.40. I've since checked frequently for OTA updates with none ever being available.

I'm wondering what iDrive version those of you for whom the remote software upgrade doesn't seem to work are on, 6 or 7? It isn't clear to me if these updates are only for v7 or also for v6 as well.

I believe 2019 g20's (first year models) came with iDrive6. It's possible I misunderstood but I feel like I was told in order to get Android Auto on my 2019 330i they had to upgrade me to iDrive7 (which they did before I took delivery of the car last year, used CPO, build date 06/2019).

There is no way a dealer will do that. Upgrade idrive 6 to 7. Some G20s did come with ID6 but I think it was based on trim and options (like cars that had analogue gauges and stuff; not sure what exactly it was).

I wasn’t aware that some had idrive 6 - you live and learn.

Mine is still on 03/21 and no sign of an update, not that it’s that big a deal. However on another note I did the centre speaker fix to stop the vibration & it is now silent.

Mine was stuck on 03/21 as a Sep 2019 build, and I've just had it back from the dealers today hopefully fixed. Now on 11/21.61 which they think may fix it but time will tell. Another thing they mentioned was my TCB signal strength readout was 22 - that's in the "poor" band! Possibly explaining why no OTA updates to either the maps or iDrive since then.

Will update if I start seeing OTAs come in.

Yeah mine is a sept 19 build too - although I have had a couple of map updates.

I hope I don’t sound thick but what is ‘TCB’. ?

I've had a couple map updates and the 03/21 was an OTA I got but hadn't anything past that.

TCB is the telematics module and part of what the car uses to communicate with remote BMW servers etc. If the signal is too weak, it's possible the car can't get all the data needed for the OTA.

The workshop manager also recommended I keep the car's radio tuned to a national station i.e. BBC Radio 1, something to do with the waveband being more aligned with possibly whatever BMW are using for Comms. He did say it sounds a bit weird but assured me that's one of the things in the Puma case about this issue.

Yes I believe they do . My m340 is a 2020 purchased in August of 2019 , with I7. I have had all the software updates done at dealer. With all due respect to some on here, I have had no change in performance or exhaust note with each update. Btw I did get a map update the other day.

It seems like I just really misunderstood the requirements (this is my first BMW so I didn't really know anything about iDrive). Before buying the car, the dealer confirmed the car did not have Android Auto and they checked and the car said it's up to date as far as the OTA services were concerned. I guess the car was just never getting OTA updates even before I bought it and the dealer just flashed the latest update before delivering (which at the time was 3/21) which brought Android Auto with it.

I also noticed that while the car now says its up to date being on 3/21, the release notes on the Software Update section on the Connected Drive website are showing for 7/21 which would indicate to me the car should be getting them.

So it's annoying (but slightly relieving) to know it doesn't seem to have ever been getting OTA updates over it's lifetime. I'm taking it in next month for an oil change and inspection so I'll bring it up then and see what they have to say about it.
