Same here. Do you use CarPlay? Ever since this update, CarPlay has been highlighting selections more often.

Use it all the time but haven’t driven the car yet since the update. What do you mean by ’highlighting selections’?

And funny that we are close to each other geographically.

Well mine has never updated - however it has just popped up saying 07/21 is available. Will give it a try later and cross my fingers.

I have uploaded to the car but now nothing is happening. I suspect the battery so will give it a charge tomorrow and see what happens.

Got my 2021/07.85 transferred to car. Been on a few long journeys, charged the battery and still no sign of the update kicking in. One more trip planned weds on the way to the office which is a good hour each way so if it doesn't install after that I'll assume it's gone tits up again an back to the dealer...

Mine is doing the same. Charged it overnight etc … but it will still not start the upgrade.

Well the upgrade on my just kicked in and worked fine. Can’t say I can really see any difference but at least it worked.

Mines still not. Would love to know what the trigger is for it to start...

Yeah me too. I didn’t do anything other than park and then it popped up. First time my car has ever done ota since I got it in sept 20

I got a notification that there was an upgrade available for my G20. It downloaded onto the My BMW app really easily. I followed the instructions to connect the phone to the car via Wifi and Bluetooth and the app even says that it is connected. Transfer of the update is supposed to happen automatically once the engine starts. I've been driving around for over 24 hours and The transfer has still not kicked off. I am on 03/2021.25 and the downloaded software is 07/2021.85.

I have deleted the iPhone from the car and reconnected it, tried downloading the upgrade again, and many other efforts.

There is no way to force the update to transfer from the phone to the car.

Anyone else having this problem? Any resolutions?

Probably insufficient battery charge level. Seems to be a common problem. Try plugging a trickle charger to your car overnight to top up the battery and the update should load next time you park the car.

Unfortunately with many modern car, simply driving it doesn't necessary too up the battery - a fuel saving measure. And the stop-start can really drain the battery.

I managed to get this working using my iPhone by doing the following on the phone …

1. Settings
2. Privacy
3. Local Network
4. My BMW (enable)

Before doing this, the iPhone wasn't allowing the My BMW app to connect to the network in the car. It started transferring the update immediately after that.

Does anyone know, does the MyBMW app get the update status from the car, so that the app will only indicate theres an update when the car knows there one? Or can the app tell theres an update independently of the car?

I would assume the app knows independently as it knows the VIN of the car.
