Phone (Android) connections, is it just me?
I'm finding the phone integration a bit half arsed, but perhaps I'm doing something wrong.
I'm ignoring Android Auto for now. But even without this, the phone and car want to connect via both Bluetooth Phone, Bluetooth Audio and Wi-Fi. The problems are: - Because phone routes its audio to the car I don't hear any alerts when I'm driving because the car audio is usually switched to the radio or Spotify. - Because the phone is connected to the car's Wi-Fi I don't get any data on the phone. It doesn't think "Oh, the car isn't providing data so I'll try 4G", even if I enable the option to do so in the phone developer options. For now I've disabled the Wi-Fi connection (set the phone not to auto connected) and disabled Bluetooth Audio on the BT connection to the car, so now it only handles calls. But having done this, I can't use things like Alexa or Android Auto. Is it really this stupid, or have I don't something stupid myself? |

It's infuriating. The software implementation really is poor. I have switched on "Switch to mobile data" in advanced options, and removed the "DIRECT-BMW" network from the list of exceptions. Have also tried connecting to car's wi-fi access point (using the password) rather than Direct Wifi. Still doesnt work. Used to have bluetooth and wi-fi in my last car and it worked first time every time.

Will have to check notification pings as I usually drive with DND on so don't hear alerts, but I'm fairly certain I still get mobile data running a P4XL + Three SIM while hooked up to the car WiFi.

Bluetooth calls work one day, next day nothing, it says can't find phone Android Auto similarly rubbish. worked fine for a week, then nothing, fails to connect (even when it shows recently connected mobile and you try and connect it fails.... I tried the direct wi-fi but have since disabled... My last resort is to delete all devices, and start from scratch My G30 I had it setup once and it worked forever for 4 years!
