It’s pretty time intensive. It probably took close to five hours for the passenger seat. But I got much faster as I went along. The second one will probably take three. Luckily there’s very little double stitching in the back!

You basically pried out the old part and put in the lidded one?
From which sides did you set on the pry tool?

When I did mine, I had to start from th back corner. Go across to the curved area. Then up the side and across the front. When I tried starting on the front, I could lift the front a little bit but not achieve anything else.

Hey I have the same box but I got mine from aliexpress and it included a plastic pry tool.
I started at the left side and managed to pop it a little out before moving to the top and bottom. After that i just pressed in the plastic box in from the middel ( not the lid but from inside the box ).

Not sure if posting links here is allowed but i can post it if it’s allowed

Retrofited Homelink (garage door opener) mirror without glass edge .
In my country in EU we don't have this option from factory for 3 series, so if we want it, we need to retrofit it.
For my car is part number : 51162472237

If you look up "Center console organizer G20" in Amazon you should have a bunch of options that pop up for that piece. Some with lids and some without. I preferred the lidded option. If you want the exact link let me know and I can DM you.

As for getting it out, I used a plastic trim tool, put some tape down on the silver rim piece and started to pry it out from the bottom right curved section. Once that section popped up I just started to work my way around with the plastic trim tool. After it's out you can just push the new piece into place.

Got them used since New is absolute robbery.

Na its OE so fits perfectly. You just remove the center console trim and pop off the two knee pads. Knee pads are connected to the silver trim around it.

I got mine off ebay barely used but I dont recommend new because the price is crazy for a simple knee pad. Save it for other mods

I have a 2023 M440i G22 and am also very interested in retrofitting the mirror with garage door opener.

How difficult was the installation? I assume that you had to code something?

Would appreciate any information.

5 year service (glorified oil change) at the dealer with the day before doing my own wipers LOL.

Side note on the wipers: Bosch Aero Twin are a little off, the driver's side fits perfectly, however the passenger sider blade definitely needed massaged to fit properly.

Hi.
It is not difficult.
It's like 10min of work. You just need to remove plastic frames, disconnect plug and pull down old mirror.
By BMW's manual you don't need to code it, but you will have 2 errors in ISTA. BMW say ignore them. You can also code it to be without error.
