BMW NA said that the online BYO will be up in the coming weeks so maybe March. My little birds (GOT reference

) said that the M340i could arrive at US dealerships in April. Fingers crossed!

It’s been a few years since I ordered a BMW, but if my experience from 2011 means anything an April delivery for March production fits. My 2012 6 series was about 1 month from production to delivery.

I just got back from test driving a 330xi M-sport.

Loved it. The only thing I could quibble about was the exhaust tone of the 4, and even that wasn’t bad. The 340 is going to be a good car.

This is the 8th car I have custom ordered. You can never tell how long it will take to get to the dealer. After production it can sit in Germany waiting for a boat. It can take a few days or 2 weeks.

The only car I didn't custom order was after Sandy. I needed a car fast and they had an acceptable car that was kept inside the dealership so I knew there was no water damage. Otherwise minimum 6 weeks is what I was told

Order placed. Fully loaded with the exception of the cooling/tire package, just went with the 1PL wheels instead. I would have liked to add the M technology pack option, but didn't like either of the wheels it forces you to get. Not sure what the performance RFTs are but I'll probably end up throwing super sports on regardless.

I did not want the driving assistant package as some of those features seem annoying, but I really wanted the driving assistant pro package to try out the knockoff autopilot mode.
