The G20 is light years ahead of F30 both inside and outside (albeit F30 exterior held up well over time).
BMW finally has a 3 series with interior and tech that can compete with other German big boys. F30 interior\tech was an eyesore for a looooong time.

I know you see more than a bigger grill in design laguage. I understand people dont like change but I believe the interior upgrades and technological advances of the new G series were well needed to compete. As a F80 M3 owner the chasis in Rwd form has reached its limit of usable power, the awd system of the new G series G80 although heavier will bring times down on the straight and at the track and make it a true all season sports car. I hope BMW doesn't change the bulge in the hood and the wider fender wells of the F series. The G80 is in speculation form at this point so I'll use the G20/G30 as a starting point and I'll accept a slightly larger grill. |

since the E30, E36, E46, E90 to F30, every generation was SO different aesthetically that made each generation quite unique.
Looking at the F30 and G20 side by side, they are quite similar in the whole structural design + layout, little bits of plastic surgery here and there but essentially same car... that G20 looks like an updated facelift and hence makes the F30 look so old and not unique at all... I think same case goes with the 5 series, just look at the F10 on the road nowadays after seeing the new G30... F10 looks so old.. I mean E60 was very controversial but at least was very unique to its own class and we all remember it

Honestly this looks better than the New X5 or 5 Series except the F90 M5.

As much as I hate to admit it but the F30 is starting to look dated. I think I'm begining to like that huge grill.

of course the f30 looks dated when you compare a 320i w/ a m sport model.. the white m sport doesn't look dated compared to the new 3.. in fact, i would argue it looks better just because it has distinctive bmw lights and lines.. but to each its own..
the front end has potential.. with blacked out grills, still a little big for my taste but the rear end is just unforgivable man..

I like the look overall, but I am disappointed with how BMW is doing this droopy lower eye lid thing for the headlights if you don't get laser lights. The X5 has this too, it just looks odd. Of course the only way to get the better DRL is to add the expensive packages. BMW is a business, I get that, but compared to Audi DRL (included on mid level trims), BMW is falling behind.

Ugh, such a disappointment. Interior looks good, but my god the exterior is just hard to swallow.
I'm hoping that the G80 can mask some of these design queues, as I was planning on picking one up when my current F80 lease expires. Time will tell I guess.

well base g20 vs the f30 is a draw neither are really all that attractive.. now the f30 m sport package is slick looking. I cant see that side view of the g20 ever looking good. the face can be fixed with a sport bumper,, easy peasy, same with the rear, but those g20 headlights are nasty, if you look at something long enough it becomes normal so maybe in a yr or two... The interior is an upgrade over the f30 tho... But really how hard of a challenge was that task.. pffftttt. a Ford engineer could have done that. lol... its a nice car but I like the f30 way better from every angle..

I sat thursday in the new G20 and need to say it's stunning inside. I'm sceptical (Still) about the outside look compared to the F30, but this will be accepted after time i think.
Inside the car feels more spacious compared to the F30. Also the seats are from better quality and robust than the F30. Although i'm not 100% convinced about the outside looks. I'm missing the angel eyes in the new BMW's headlights . For me it was the only reason why i bought BMW's. These eyes were at night very agressive and people would straight know it's a BMW. Now with the G20 i don't know, it looks more as a lexus IS250 to me. What i love are the new colour combinations inside and outside. In my F30 i have Coral red and need to say the Fiona Red in the G20 is absolutely stunning. These 2 tone colour seats are absolutely sublime combination. Anyway i don't think i would easily trade my F30 for the G20 |
