Good point, it takes few months for things to catch up. I may not want the very first year though. When the F30 first came out you could get the adaptive steering without the suspension upgrade, later, they were a combined package only. I would most likely wait for the 2020 model unless I came across an Individual British Racing Green M3/4.

MPPK may not be available at all since the car is being released as a M Performance car from the get-go. I may be wrong but I don't think there are MPPKs for M240i, M550i or even the M perf diesels?

This really a question? I guess it depends on your needs, but I’d rather a f 80 m3 than a just newer 3 series that everyone and their mother can lease at least until the new g80

Both nice cars, I’m biased but I’d prefer a little more exclusivity and better car than the newer tech

Where do you get the 10% figure from? If you live in places like Chicago, Boston, etc you need to get your winter tires on by mid to late November and keep them on until mid April. You have winter tires on for about 40% of the year, 50% if you want to ensure you aren't caught unprepared by an early or late season snow storm.
I am in Canada and we had a dump of snow October 2nd.

Awd is a must up here. RWD cars don't sell here and take a beating in resale.

I had an F80 M3 and loved it 3 months of the year. Not enough to warrant the costs.

I'm in the same boat as you. The lease on my 2016 340i is ending in November of 2019 and I am not sure what to do.

I was going to wait for the G80 M3 but I'm not sure how long the wait will be and even when it does come out the lease isn't going to be within my budget.

The G20 didn't really seem like a huge change to me compared to my 340i but it's growing on me the more I see about it.

Pretty much around this time next year I plan on test driving a G20 M340i and a F80 M3 and see which one I'd go for based on lease prices and if the driving dynamics of the M3 is better than the tech and updated handling of the M340i.

I think this is accurate, there are no mppk kits for the m performance models. My guess is that trend will continue.

F80 M3 is at its end of production already so by end of 2019 I don't think you'll be able to lease a new F80 as there won't be any left. F82 will stay in production until June 2020, however.

I still haven't test driven the F80/F82, but from googling I know the difference will be astounding, so it's something to look forward to.

YouTube videos and social media are so much more important. It ain’t shit if it doesn’t sound good on an iPhone speaker.

There's been quite a few times when I've been walking downtown and someone in an M3/M4 floors it as they go past and I always cringe as the sound they make is just awful.

I'm just waiting for the great day a M(eh)3 costs over 100k fully-optioned.

Just to see people defend it like they defend a 150k M5 as being the greatest vehicle in history (before they sell it within two years).

Why not sell it and get into a great-sounding vehicle? If your reaction is that bad?

Test drive?

Seriously, if a car is that bad that it really does make you cringe, sell it. Life’s too short.

$65k will get you a stripper M3 or a fully loaded M340i with next gen tech. They will be very different cars. Not to mention the M3 is out of production so you're limited to whatever you can find on dealer lots. I see very few 2018 M3s optioned out to less than $75k.

I do enjoy it, but I have always wanted an M3 and was ready to pull the trigger this spring, but now the M340 is making me think.

Other cars in the mix:c63 Amg sedan (not many used yet, but soon will be) RS5 (some used are popping up already, but still in the mid 70s)

Discuss and give your 2cents

M3. Always the M3. No "discussion" needed.

I have the opposite reaction. It doesn't sound as bad on video as it does in the flesh.

Meh...0% APR usually just means the interest cost is built into the price of the car.

That said, I love the 84 month idea...the slower i sink money into a depreciating asset, the better. I can put money to use somewhere else that will actually generate me a return.

Yeah there won't be an MPPK for M-Performance cars. That's just silly thinking. OP if you want to spend <$70k and want RWD, own an F80 comp for awhile and see how it compares for you. No big harm in trying something else for a year or two if you're buying used. Or wait for the new M3 which will undoubtedly be better than current M3 and spend more $$$.
