The G20 is a 0/10. A pitiful, unimaginative, self-defeating design.
The F30 was terrible to drive, but design wise was a solid 4/10.

Sounds like the same complaining as when every new model arrives. Almost could not stop laughing with some of the comments calling the F30 "classic BMW" after it got thrashed just like this when it was released. I like it, and will look better with M sport trim.

Wow, looks terrible. Cheap even. I have never liked a new BMW less than this one and I've been around a long while. Was not a huge fan of the f30 but I didn't hate it when it came out like I do this G20. Think I'd rather have the original G20!

Unfortunately most people don't care about this side by side. We need an Msport side by side

Gotta hand it to BMW. They design the car with the M-Sport package in mind. When it's completed, the designers have a meeting to discuss how they can make the car look terrible without the M-Sport package, so that the consumers will have no choice but to fork over the extra money.

I'm glad the hood line is gone, but I'm having such a hard time loving this new car. It's just... weird looking. And the oil spout shaped designs on the front and rear bumper are just tacky.
It's not the first time I haven't loved a 3 at release though, and by the time the M comes around I'm hopeful they will have it sorted. |

It's a good way to recognize the differences between the two models. Thanks for sharing. G20 wins, I think.

For me it's a Lexus IS250. BMW gave up his dna on the new 3 series. In my opnion F30 pre facelift was the last beautifull 3 series, BMW made. Even the F30 facelift looks ugly as hell with these weird LED front lights

The G20 looks pretty awful in this trim and in white
Looks miles better in M Sport trim and in the new blue which they've introduced for the model As with all BMWs, trim, colour and wheel choice make all the difference

Yea, a lot better although the front bumper looks bulbous in white- the car suits dark colours better, which mask some of the more suspect crease lines
The exterior doesn't do much for me. Hopefully suspension, chassis and steering are where it shines over the F30

Yes, the L shape is there (but only the red bar, not the whole case), but that's not enough for me to describe tail lights as BMW like, sorry. Everything else isn't BMW typical IMHO. I don't have any problems with new design elements, but I don't like this solution. Doesn't look good to me and there's actually something cheap looking (and more japanese or french car style than german).
I'm not trying to bash the car in general, just the tail lights (same goes for the new X4, saw it a few days ago on the street, it destroys the look of the car). I mean look at these 3 pics, the upper 2 look so much better (and somehow nobler / less cheap). Last edited by Art__Vandelay; 01-15-2019 at 09:07 AM.. |

I'm trying to like it and not a big fan of F series but I think the F series wins on this one. The grills are freaking too big.

I thought this was supposed to be a G20 next to a F30. Why'd the OP put an Acura in the rear end shot? /s
I've tried to get used to it but I hate the new car from the back. That oversized snout isn't looking so great either. |
