Your engine and drivetrain warranty are likely both toast with a tune. Now, there's lots of talk about a company having to prove the tune caused the issue. Pretty easy for BMW just to say "well, tampering with the ECU likely caused the engine to perform outside of its designed power limits/parameters" and that's that. That doesn't mean that your entire car won't have a warranty (such as A/C dies, heater doesn't work, locks malfunction), but if your turbo dies or you spin a bearing...you're likely SOL.

I have yet to see anyone report popping their engines with OTS tunes or JB4 when configured and used correctly. You'll be fine in that regard.

I wouldn’t be too scared about sending the ECU overseas, i have a 22 m340 and i sent my ECU out to Femto. I was a little spooked when it took a while to arrive, but man when my ECU came back i slapped BM3 on it and the car is a serious machine. WELL worth the wait lol.

Hi I just bought a 2023 m340i and it’s bone stock right now and I’m new to the platform so I have a couple of questions.

Can I use jb4 without sending my ecu to be unlocked? And how can I do that?

If I get a vrsf dp and check engine light comes on can I get it to be coded out with the jb4

And can I flash the tune by myself or should I have someone do it for me?

Place an order with us, we will send you the JB4 and you can install it yourself or take it to a mechanic, nothing else is needed (the website link is in my signature)

the jb4 will delete the code but it will come back every 50 miles or so

Based on your questions, I do not recommend you tune the car yourself.
you can flash tune it by sending the DME to femto, but as a start its best to test the waters with the Jb4 instead

The warranty is not entirely voided for any reason. meaning if you upgrade your turbo and damage the engine, BMW will still honor the warranty for any part not affected by your upgrade.

As long as you are using the recommended JB4 maps, hundreds of thousands of users have proven to be safe. There's no reason to worry.
