Clearance issues with front power socket (rear one is fine)

Anyone else have issues with the center console cigarette lighter? Car has 20 miles on it and it doesn't work. I guess I have to take it in already.

figured it out. The socket isnt wide enough at the bottom. So the escort radar smart cord will not work without modification. It will work in the rear cig lighter socket because its different. Not sure why they use 2 different sockets.

I took my car in for this very reason.

They said (of course) “nothing wrong, user error.”

What I discovered was that Escort brand cords do not work but when I switched it to my Valentine 1 detector’s cable it worked fine.

Oddly, the rear passenger outlet works fine for any cord, it seems, just as you said.

The dealer just told me to hard wire it to the rear view mirror so that's what I did today.

Oh man. I literally just picked up the 330i last night and had the same problem with my Escort cord.

Assuming I'll have to buy some sort of an adapter, right? What did you end up doing?
