Spare tire option pics

Just want to post up pics of my M340i spare tire option. I ordered it because I wanted PS4S and I don't really need much trunk space. Basically just groceries or two flat suitcases will ever go in there. Grocery bags standing upright barely fit. There is a small amount of storage on both sides of tire and under the rear portion of the cover. I will say though that there is quite a massive reduction in trunk space with the spare, so don't choose this option without thinking about it.

Thanx, that is the first time I have seen how it will look. Would you be kind enough to shoot a couple of pics with the tire and cover removed? Does the cover fit lower in the trunk w/o the spare in place, or do you just get a bigger, but lumpier space?

I have the same configuration with the spare tire. Definitely have some regrets with the limited storage space.

Hmm, I was wondering if I can retrofit putting a spare tire in. I have the Pirelli run flat summer tires, and given the sort of rough ride, was hoping to switch to PS4S tires when these wear out.

What are thoughts on just buying your own third party spare and keeping it in there and not taking up all the extra room with the cover? I wanted the spare since I have the performance tires and will be getting a dedicated set of winters that won't be runflat either. I like the peace of mind of a spare, but hate losing so much space. I've been lucky with my tire punctures in that the leak was slow enough for me to get to a shop, but my luck is due to run out.

Anyway, I just put my order in on Saturday and production doesn't start until September 1st, so I have time to make changes.

Do you think you could get a mountain bike back there with the seats down and the front wheel popped off? I can in my F30.

For $150 its no brainer and 90% of the time my trunk is empty anyway.

It would be much cheaper to remove the spare (If more room is needed) vs trying to get an after market kit.

Also, one can order a replacement trunk floor / carpet from a car that is not equipped with spare. Part #: 51-47-7-438-290

I am really looking fw to having non-RFTs with a spare tire.

Whats next, optional dip stick?

Hello,

I'm currently thinking about ditching the Pirelli RFT that my M340i came with, in favour of some Michelin Nono RFTs.

Did BMW need to make any adjustments to your M340 suspension to cater for the softer side walled non RFT or did you just retrofit the spare tyre kit in the trunk and swap to non RFT ?

I'm getting some feedback that the suspension will be designed for RFT but given spare tyre kits are (were?) an option on G21, I'm trying to understand whether this is true and whether an adjustment is required to swap to/from RFT.

Thanks

Sorry can't answer that question but I would be interested to know as well.
