OP: that's gotta be a little disconcerting, like you I have approached those speeds in my BMWs and they have always been rock solid. Please let us know what you find out

I normally don’t cheap out on tires, but the car is a lease and is daily driven all year 15k+ a year which means I’m generally buying 2 sets of new tires during the 3 year period and I don’t do spirited driving besides doing logging for my tuner on only a certain part of a freeway which is almost like a runway for a mile, and it’s the only the section that I dare to hit speeds over 120.

You're driving a LEASED CAR at 170+ MPH on cheap-ish tires? I hope BMW doesn't figure this out, because if they do, they may want their car back.

Power to you, of course, but you really are playing with fire.

It’s a W rated tire, going 2 mph over its rated limited for less then 2 seconds on a smooth straight tarmac road will not cause failure, anyways to everyone crying about this thread, the problem was the tires not being fully broken in.

Watch out for the deer at night time up there! That's a quick venison stew at 170mph.

Ive heard, not that i have done this in my m340 i had for less than 24 hrs when nothing happened, but 110mph came on very quickly and easily and it was said to have felt amazingly solid with rpm at 4000.
If this crazy story is true, im in love.
But now we r talking about 170? What a load of shiii. When we flash tuned in college, we would stick the guys head in the toilet and complete the flash tune by flushing the toilet with said head in the water.
