Hi - does anyone have any knowledge if this may be coming out at launch? If so I will hold onto my F34 till next year and trade across to this :-)

I am too interested in a M340i Touring. Hopefully it will be AWD or that BMW will offer the 330i with xDrive in the UK. I wouldn't want an RWD as there are lots of roundabouts and elevation changes where I live and AWD is quicker in all conditions due to absense of wheel spin. Furthermore you other half would be overwhelmed by a non-AWD 340i

Hopefully order book for the touring open late autumn for spring delivery.

S drive much better balanced than xdrive, if you're getting wheel spin I suggest you slow down and modulate the throttle to the available grip, anyone overwhelmed by a 3 series should hand their licence in IMHO.

What? If you’re driving normally and managing to “overwhelm” a standard RWD 340i with all that mechanical grip, then I don’t want you anywhere near me. And by the way AWD will only work better when accelerating at the maximum in very poor conditions from a stop, or in some cases, out of a bend. But you will still oversteer. You can go way, way faster than other traffic in a RWD car around a wet roundabout if you drive properly. RWD doesn’t suddenly mean your front tyres are instantly replaced by jelly; and FWD cars have finite grip too!

Is this thinking one step towards banning RWD because it’s considered “dangerous”?

I'm pretty sure BMW will sell in EU (and in UK!) M340i xdrive to compete with the Audi S4 and the Mercedes C43 AMG.

I hope they are going to introduce the touring version of the M340i at the same time as the sedan!

Europe will get M340ixt, but it appears to be planned for later than the more mainstream G21 versions. My guess would be a 4-8 months delay.

Will Europe also get G20/21 M340d? It would make sense given the X3/X4 M40d, but so far BMW has remained tight-lipped.

Not guaranteed yet, and given the recent troubles with diesels the chances are lower than I would have expected just a year ago, but it could happen, likely towards late 2019 - early 2020.
